that's quite interesting...and disappointing.

True. Although it was kinda interesting to see Jason take on someone who could bring the fight to him for once. Too bad that(a) Jason was undead, and (b) most of the characters were either forgettable or just plain unlikeable.

For some reason I still like that movie though. Zombie Jason looked bad ass and the lightning flash scene was cool. Sometimes that's just all it takes.

Its also the last Friday movie that I enjoyed... even just a little bit until JvF.

Picked up Hatchet III on Blu Ray today. Hoping its still good, as I really loved the first two.

I picked it up as well. I'm planning on watching it tonight or tomorrow. I enjoyed the first two, so I hope this one is more cheesy fun.

Watched it today, and it wasn't bad. I think it falls a bit short of the other two, and it seems really quick. Not sure if it is shorter than the others but it seemed to rush by, and the plot felt, well, a bit more thin than the others, and that is a lot considering how thin the plots of the previous films were. I still enjoyed it, and really need to marathon all 3 sometime.

I heard Adam Green wants to do a "super cut" of all 3 Hatchet films, if he can secure the rights for the first film. Despite the 4 and a half hour runtime, I think it'd actually flow pretty decently, as well as make the third feel a little more complete to me overall.

Here's a list of my favorite horror movies.

In no particular order;

Halloween (Original)
The Fog (Original)
The Prince of Darkness
In The Mouth of Madness
Re-Animator

Tales from the Dark Side
X-Files: "Space," "Home," "Detour," "Die Hand Die Verzletz," "Folie A Deux" (gave me nightmares as a kid)
Doctor Who: "Rise of the Cybermen/Age of steel." One of the darkest stories from Davies' run; bleak, unrelenting, mechanical horror. The screams, vocal and of the equipment during the conversion procedure get under one's skin, along with that motif.

I wish that worked with comics as well. DC would owe a lot of us quite a bit of money after the New 52 kicked off.

Not that much money...since DC rebooted after Crisis, and then a few times since then. It seems like they can't go a decade without screwing things up so badly that they ave to start all over...ust so they can make the same mistakes again.

It's easy...
1. There should be only one version of each character. No alternate earths.
2. We have no clue what will happen in the future, never show us. We'll just end up with 15 guys from 15 different futures hanging around.

I'm not (and I'm sure you weren't) suggesting that DC or the Halloween franchise owe us actual money. But...for instance...why should I care about Superman? I mean...the character has only had a couple of years of adventures. That hardly makes him iconic or special. We are supposed to care about the character because of events that are in no way a part of the history of the character that is currently being published...those events having been wiped away in a series of universe shattering resets. This new guy...I have no clue what he's all about.

If a company doesn't care about their trademarks enough to take care of them and be careful with them, then I have a hard time investing my money into them as a form of entertainment. I want to know that if I'm looking forward to something because of a previous installment, that the company respects the fact that I spent my money on that previous installment.

You probably were enjoying Kane Hodder's interpretation of Jason, which I do admit is pretty badass. And it was certainly a better Friday The 13th installment than Jason Takes Manhatten, Jason Goes To Hell, or Jason X, at least slightly.

Though I can't totally hate JGTH or JX. They don't work as Friday The 13th movies. But if you take Jason out of the equasion, they're actually pretty good horror movies. If JGTH were just a movie about a body hopping demon and had nothing to do with Friday The 13th, people probably would have loved it. Had JX been about a failed super soldier experiment and not have anything to do with Friday The 13th, it would probably have been seen as a pretty good horror/space adventure. But because they were sold to us as Friday The 13th films they are almost universally hated.

Some recent horror films I have enjoyed lately are

When the Lights Went Out
Evidence
Livid

My GF and I watched all Friday the 13th's on Netflix... 3-8 and while none of them outright suck there are a lot of wtf moments.

Now I need to find 1-2 9 11 JvF and the remake.

Have you seen Robert Wise's the Haunting? I'd recommend that as a film, but highly, highly recommend the source text, the Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson.

Ghosts.....
The original House on Haunted Hill is one of my favorites.
The Others
Poltergeist if for some odd reason you missed it.

Try Spectre from 6 Films to Keep You Awake.

You'll have to read it but its creepy as hell and very well made.

I liked the remake of House on Haunted Hill myself. It and the 13 Ghosts remake although I haven't seen the originals that I can recall.

Poltergeist! Absolutely, 100% Poltergeist. Nearly all ghost story films fail in comparison.

The remakes of House On Haunted Hill and The Haunting have some really good special effects, but the quality of story telling suffers some. The originals told the story better, but the visual effects are incredibly dated.

House is a really fun horror movie. It's kinda campy, but it has some nice scares in there too. It's kinda in the same boat as Sam Raimi's Evil Dead 2.

I personally kinda like the Paranormal Activity series. Although technically they're more about demon possession than ghosts, there are a lot of very similar elements.

And most certainly you should go out and see The Conjuring while it's still in theatres. If you haven't seen it yet, it's deffinitely worth the $12 admission fee. If you have seen it, it's worth going back to see it a second time.

The Conjuring is mildly entertaining...rising above most Hollywood Horror movies only because it isn't full of plot hole nonsense. However, it is boring, not scary, and derivative as hell. I thought it was basically as good as any other possession/haunted house movie that Hollywood throws us multiple times per year, except someone took the time to hire decent actors and make sure that it wasn't contradicting itself at every turn.

I keep hearing that it's the best horror movie in years...but it isnt even in my top 5 of THIS year.

I met Ari Lehman at a convention today and watch his band ( First Jason ) perform. Ari played the young Jason Vorhees in Friday the 13th.

Also met Michael Berryman from the Hills Have Eyes and Devil's Rejects. There were some lesser known actors who appeared on The Walking Dead , but I didn't converse with them.

There's going to be a bigger convention in out area next February. I'm hoping to meet Danielle Harris :hrt:, Tom Savini , and Kane Hodder.

I had a friend pick me up two autographs from her: one of her as Jamie Lloyd, in the clown costume, and one of her as Annie Brackett, on the phone, from RZH.

Nice. I'm going to try for a photo or kidnap her in a burlap sack Borat style.

Gotta give a mention to The Awakening. Its like The Others meets The Orphanage and never really talked about.

Very, very creepy vibe that strikes a nerve more than the jump scare movie.
