Someone mentioned Dog Soldiers, really good movie
yes I watched the descent last night, people were screaming their haeds off
F***ing sweet wasn't it? I love the idea of the women being trapped. I felt claustrophobic just watching the scenes where the girls got stuck. The reviews really matched with what I saw.
Too bad his follow up was Doomsday but I am sure he was pushed into it, well that's atleast the feel I got from it.

That movie is so awesome. The transformation scenes still make me cringe...the noises of bones cracking and stretching are just so ****ing gross.I just saw the Original American Werewolf in London. What a fantastic freaking movie, it's a Halloween must watch for me now. Can't believe I kept ignoring this movie for so long.

See the original Wolf Man. Sure it's dated and not scary in the slightest, but it's still a pretty cool flick. Also, the Howling was decent. I didn't like it as much as other people did though. Wolf is a good one too, although it's not much of a horror movie. The effects were pretty damn good for its time, heck it's beat some more recent werewolf movies. And I thought the puppet wolf thing that they used was actually scary looking lol, I'll be honest, it creeped me out.
I feel like watching more Werewolf movies, anyone got any more recommendations? I've seen Dog Soldiers, just so you know.

Those are all I can think of right now. To me, for a movie to be truly scary there must be some eliment of plausibility to it. Movies about homicidal maniacs (if done well) are scary because homicidal maniacs do exist. Ted Bundy, Ed Gein, Alan Fish, Clifford Olsen, Willy Picton, Jack The Ripper, all perfect examples of real life homicidal maniacs. And I grew up in a haunted house, so any movie about manevolent spirits tormenting people is very scary to me. Of course, in all cases, the movie has to be well made. See No Evil, Wrestlemaniac, any Friday The 13th after #5 or Halloween after #2, and various other slasher flicks, are just too formulaic and predictable to be scary. And I don't believe in Satan or demonic possession, so The Exorcist movies don't scare me at all. Vampires and zombies don't exist, so the best those movies might do for me is a good action film about the undead. But that's just my opinion.
Great movie, a very cool satire of the slasher genre. I've always loved Pet Sematery, the scenes with the wife's sister made me not sleep for a few nights when I was young.Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon
just finished watching all 3 evil dead flicks with my roommates. good stuff.
i think you just revealed your freak to us allt:
Good list.![]()
But, I'm curious, what's the significant difference between malevolent spirits and demonic possession for you? Not trying to sound mean or anything, it just piqued my interest.
