The Graysons are NOT coming to CW!

What do you think of The Graysons?

  • Great Idea!

  • Terrible Idea!

  • I'll wait and see....

There is only one Robin and his real name was Burt Ward.

Any others are just plain nuts.

But the CW does need to fill the vacancy left behind when they chose not to renew Pro Wrestling's WWE Smackdown.

They're going to cast Babs as standoffish nerd girl, who works as a Library Aide during 2nd Period. The word around school will be that she thinks she's better than everyone else because her father is the Commissioner. She'll pop up periodically as a mild antagonist (you know, angsty teen teasing to foreshadow love) until the 2-part season finale where they have to 'team up' to do something heroic.
I think I'll go ahead and shoot myself now, to avoid the agony of watching this.

Re-reading the Variety story and thinking about the title "The Graysons", I would wager that the direction they're going in is to make a conventional family drama with a major twist. Kind of like the ish the CW tried with Runaway and Life Is Wild.

I mean, with this:

"he will face challenges involving first loves, young rivals and his family as he grows up."

I don't even think they're going the Smallville/Aquaman route with this.

You know, there are ways to avoid such a thing without eating a bullet. You could always turn off the t.v. and I don't know, jerk off.

I have no idea how there going to create a series based on pre-robin, thats not even that interesting to begin with. Although I do agree with making him a teenager around 16 when his parents bite the bullet. The comics are a bit ridiculous making him 11 or 12 whatever it may be.

Hey, it passes the time, and at least when you're done, you'll have something show for it.

ok I have had time to think and am now warming up to the idea a little. But it would need some minor tweaking (see below):

That will get me to tune in costume or no costume!!! :cwink:

i don't know how i feel about this. robin doesn't seem like he has enough history to carry a tv series.

At least not before becoming Robin. This is stupid. The CW is stupid.

Wasn't this already tried?

Okay. I don't get Dawn Ostroff.

She doesn't want Smallville and Supernatural anymore because they don't appeal to her target audience, soooo she commissions a show about Robin?

You know what would have been a better show? Robin after Batman fired him. You know, before he became Nightwing, when he was trying to find himself? Now there you can have your sappy teenage angst, and some ass kicking on the side.

But there's a possibility he may put on a costume. The WB/CW only go after shows when the protagonist would never even conceive of putting on a costume.

The mistake is that they should be doing a Rich Grayson show in College...Bats insists he goes to college...in college he begins to see strange crimes and the emergence of "freak" criminals and he has to solve a crime each week. It's basically Veronica Mars with a male lead...it's his training for when he eventually becomes Robin...and he should become Robin by season 3 or 4. This is a cool show. But a show about a circus boy and his trapaze artist parents? Unless it has Carnival type weirdness this won't work...then again, if they are travelling across America solving crimes, stopping freaks...hmmm...I think I just reversed my position...this might just work!

They're made of anti-accessibility. Never mind the fact that comic book movies are making boatloads of money right now.

I'm not looking forward to this but I will check it out.

:woot: that was good!

i think they could of made this show interesting with various other approaches but they chose the least compelling part of his life. unless the graysons die in the first season and he heads out to the wayne manor.
that could be kind of interesting but then you would have to include batman .

A Message From Souders & Peterson Regarding "The Graysons"
Smallville's executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders have written in with a message to the fans at KryptonSite, clearing up some reports that had been made implying that Smallville may be on its way out...

Dear Smallville fans,

As news and rumors swirl around the development of The Graysons for the CW, we have every intention of letting you, our fans, be the first to know the reality. Never have we been so committed to the continuing success of Smallville as we are to seasons 8 and 9. While we are extremely excited to be working hand-in-hand with Wonderland, Warner Bros. and the CW to create the origin story of Dick Grayson, it has never been intended as a replacement for Smallville, as is speculated in some media. The cast, crew, writers and producers are all working full-steam ahead on a story-line for Clark that allows for seasons of further trials and adventures for our favorite hero. As always, we all have you to thank for achieving eight years of this amazing show that Al and Miles created, and we're looking far beyond!

Brian Peterson & Kelly Souders
