Whats really sad is, morbid curiosity will lead to alot of people watching the pilot and first couple episodes just to make fun of it and say how horrible it is, which will lead to CW ratings. :nono:

This is going to SUCK soooooo bad. You guys wanna see a cool interpretation of "Grayson" check this out.

Grayson is a 2004 fan film made by John Fiorella featuring DC Comics character Dick Grayson along with several other DC Universe characters.

You wanna know why the above is so awesome? Because it happens Post-Batman. You can't write stories for a pre-batman Dick.

You just can't. That's like telling stories about Banner before the hulk or telling stories about Peter Parker before he got bit by that spider...BORING & LAME.

I say it's brave and bold and could end up adding something to the dc universe instead of taking away.

a good series can only enhance the character, a bad one will simply be ignored

It's either gonna be bad or real ****ty.

can't they do someone who actually has an interesting pre superhero story like Wonder Woman or a Green Arrow spinoff or maybe The Flash(Barry Allen)

Ideally, they'd make a series about Bruce Wayne's training on his way to become Batman. It's the most obvious and interesting concept, ideally suited to weekly series format given that he was globetrotting all over the place, there's no costumes or overt superhero stuff since he has no powers, and it's got a built-in audience because he's f***in' Batman. It makes perfect sense, so of course it'll never happen.

Usually, I can be pretty optimistic when it comes to anything Batman related. I was holding out good hopes for both The Batman and Batman: The Brave And The Bold when they were announced, even when they were pretty much hated by everyone else. I just have that much faith in Batman's mythology.

This, however, just blows. There's absolutely nothing about Dick Grayson's pre-Robin years that can make for an interesting series, in my mind, as one of the main focal points of Dick Grayson's Robin years is his struggles to honor his mentor while never questioning his methods... which, of course, later leads to Nightwing. See, that would've made a good show. But this ruins that point of the character, similar to how Birds Of Prey ruined the point of that team.

And, really... 'DJ'?

I'll watch the pilot, but I'm not happy in the least. There was just so much opprotunity for a Batman related TV series, and The CW chose this crap over anything substantially relevant to the character.

Take away the Robin element, Batman, Nightwing and all that stuff. All you are left with is a child who works for a circus. Oooooh how exciting.

A gritty well done version of nightwing would be so much better than this crap. And Parfour would make all the running over roof tops look cool realistic and save on loads of computer effects. Why would CW not just make this show instead. What is wrong them are the Tards or something.

They probably wanted to some Bruce Wayne pre batman show like that one show that was shelved but they cant with Nolan, Bale and the current batman film franchise. Wayne can't even visit Smallville so they are going with this idea of a another Batman character. Nolan doesn't care what they do with Robin.

While I would much rather see THE WAYNE CHRONICLES, or any number of other DC adaptions, this is not, by itself, a horrible idea. To say there's nothing interesting about the idea is frankly, absurd. It's all about the execution. It could work, and be interesting. Now, it probably won't, but it could. There's a lot to play with in terms of a traveling circus family. They could go all over the world, meet interesting people, and show where the skills and nature of "Robin" came from, in part. Where did Dick learn to be a laughing young daredevil, etc. The Graysons are characters that have not really been explored all that much, for the most part, and that could be a neat angle. Dick could be a heck of an interesting character. He probably won't be, but he could be. Ten bucks this will be the kind of storyline that A LONELY PLACE OF DYING had, with Dick solving murders that happen to occur wherever he goes, etc.

were talking CW here friend, excecution is not exactly their strong point.

Again, I don't want to see a show about second string superheroes... not when there are more deserving 'real' superheroes that deserve real TV shows. Birds of Prey was the same thing... who wants to see the second stringers? NO one. Show me old batman instead of his retraded love child with Catwoman.

I am at a lost for words. What's wrong with a Green Arrow show? "DJ" doesn't even have powers or the training yet. And, seriously, what's the point if Batman/Bruce Wayne can't come to TV?

Yeah, there should be a lot of other series before a Dick Grayson series. A Martian Manhunter one, for instance. A shapeshifting detective? Awesome concept for a TV series.

these new producers of Smallville are just like Almiles with their crazy concepts for shows. I bet it will be similar to the original concept of the Bruce Wayne show Almiles thought of before Smallville.

that was the plan back in 2000 and a really well done pilot episode was written by Tim Mccanlies but movie studio pitched a fit because at the time the they were still plotting the Batman film directed by Aranofsky (which eventaully fell apart and later morphed into Batman Begins). The network said OK, since we can't do pre-superhero Batman, we'll do pre-superhero Superman, and thus Smallville came to be.

Millar and Gough had nothing to do with the Bruce Wayne TV series. That was all Tim McCanlies idea that he pitched to Tollin-Robbins. Millar and Gough didnt enter the picture until they decided to scrap Batman and go with Superman.

I saw that before. It's hilarious.

the who is irrelevant IMO, but I agree with his statement about weird writers with ideas that are a little too wacky.

I have to agree with others that this premise sucks and "Nightwing" would have been a better concept; perhaps on another network like Fox (Terminator is WB and Fox grabbed it's rights).

At least with Nightwing in Bludhaven, you could seperate Grayson from Batman and really develop him as his own superhero; maybe even set up the Titans. There would have been potential there.

With this, I'm pretty sure it's going to be Robin without the costume or Batman... which makes no sense

This could only hurt the Batman image.

COMING THIS FALL TO THE CW...CIRCUS BOY...

Tagline: Just try and stop this meddling kid.

Hollywood has already made a movie about a gymnast who fights crime: Gymkata.

This is beyond ridiculous. The proposed timeline doesn't lend itself to revealing anything interesting that would foreshadow the character's heroic future. What's he going to be doing?; leading the middle school revolt against Meat Loaf Wednesdays? Exchanging 'Do You Like Me?' notes with the popular girl in school? Tackling the daunting task of trying to understand his parents' appreciation of Vaudeville?

They're going to make him a full-blown teenager and likely have him as a ready-made Robin, transferring the skills and discipline he largely garnered (or harnessed) from Bruce, place him into contrived situations and incorporate it into this dumbass CW teen format.

I suppose a Nightwing series, with the occasional flashback to his time as Robin and what led to the split, just makes too much sense. Forced teen dramas are all the rage. Woo!
“The Graysons” will be set in modern times, and follows young Dick “DJ” Grayson as he experiences the challenges of growing up, first loves, rivals, and the close-knit family life that will eventually inspire him to lead a life of crime-fighting alongside Batman on the streets of Gotham City.
Ooh. Can't wait.

Although, if this expedites Smallville being taken off the air, I'm all for it.

I mean, really, CW...WHERE'S THE LOVE? :brucebat:

Why are they sooooooooooooo afraid of costumes and fully realized heroes? Must they aLL be depressed teenagers?
