Nothing about Robin, or the character of Dick Grayson is particularly interesting until his parents die.

What they COULD have done was make a Dick Grayson show what takes place in the years that he leaves Batman's side as Robin and travels the world to train to become Nightwing. That would be an interesting show/miniseries to see.

He just has very little to offer without his parents dying. He's not the same character we see in the comics unless his parents die. It would be like having a Bruce Wayne television show where he is featured from age 5-8.

How are they going to have the Grayson family live in Gotham? They were carnies...no mads, they traveled with the Circus all the time. If they followed that format it might be a little more interesting than putting him into a regular Gotham High School, one he never went to until he was taken in by Bruce Wayne...

I much rather have a Nightwing series than a pre-Robin Dick Grayson show. The majority of people don't give a crap about Robin, what makes CW think people will be interested in a kid who isn't even Robin yet? UNLESS, the first episode starts off with The Graysons' deaths and D.G. goes to live with Bruce while all this happens, then it may work. As long as Batman makes an appearance here and there, it could work. I personaly wouldn't find a show about a kid working in a circus and battling teenage hood interesting. I see that show all the time on every other network.

But who knows...?

Nolan and the Features Dept would never allow Batman or Bruce (or even Alfred) to appear in this.

of course they wouldn't be in it because the series is just Dick Grayson and his life before his parents died and before he was taken in by Bruce.


And if this series does happen, the finale for the series would probably be them saying we are going to Gotham......and thats it...like sopranos(HAHA) but mainly because pp already know what happens to them.

I always figured one day Darkseid would show up as a new School Director in Smallville. Hey, It's one of the few things they haven't done yet.

That said, I wouldn't attack this show before I at least get to know what it's about. But, in terms of greatest sounding ideas ever, this isn't one of them. Not that I wouldn't want to know what Robin did before he was Robin, it's just that I wouldn't necessarilly tune in every week for another show that promises a background, and then just starts making crap up.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out the reason The CW choose this as their next project is to cash in on the phenomenal success of "The Dark Knight" . Since their restricted from using the character of Batman/Bruce Wayne on Tv series (Which IMO is stupid) Since they've got two Clark Kent already . but that's besides the point . Dick Grayson is a very interesting character as [ Robin : The Boy wonder partner of Batman] , [Robin : Leader of The Teen Titans] & [Nightwing : The solo Avenger] . However I really think they droped the ball big time . By having a story about Dick (Pre-Robin) & his family - (Pre their death) especially without Batman .


either create a series focus on Nightwing or about The Teen titans .

Well, don't take the media phrase "cash in" as a negative. It's just plain common sense.

People have been wanting a new Batman tv series for a very long time and this is the closest that we may get and I'm very excited about all of this.

I can see how interesting this show could get. Establishing backstories for future DC rogues, allies and Batman villains, random cameo characters just how Smallville does and Birds of Prey did.

and if the show stays on as long as Smallville has, I'm sure the show will expand a lot farther as it isn't limited as much. With a show called, "The Graysons", they can take that as far as they want if they go long term. They need a great-looking and well-acted cast with some good stories because they're really working with a decent outline here.

I pretty much said the same thing...I don't see why not, I seriously doubt Nightwing will be introduced in future Bat-films...

At least, not for a VERY LONG TIME.
