The greatest muppet movie of all time!!!

Saw it again tonight. Turns out I slept through about 20 minutes of the first viewing. It was an even better movie the second time. Good stuff.

I'm just jealous of Jason Segal... I feel like those of us who grew up with the muppets were very lucky. Everything had just enough of an edge for adults to be well entertained while we were none-the-wiser and laughing along with them. A true family show!!! I site the movie Shrek as being equally as adept at this. Imagine being in Jason's shoes, as he gets to bring the crew back and play alongside them. He seems to be a hoot on set. Muppets ... on-set fun ... a very rare dream come true :)

My major complaint: way too much awful singing. Let the Muppets sing a few numbers. Jason singing was awful and I had thought the ending to the opening number would quell all future numbers as a way to poke fun at itself. I also wish it had more adult humor and references hidden in like Shrek. There were no references to any other movie or any witty/sharp jokes. It had a bunch of self aware jokes but nothing non-generic. Except for the travel by map. I have seen enough montage jokes. It was a good kids movie and it seemed like the cast enjoyed themselves. I am a casual Muppets fan so I was not overly impressed. I had some good chuckles but for me this is a good rental or a good family flick if you have kiddos.

The Muppets have never been Shrek and never should be. That's not to say I dislike those movies, I don't, but that's not who The Muppets are.

Toy Story is another good example. Otherwise people that didn't grow up with the show, me, think it feels too kiddy. The movie was about re-branding and re-starting the Muppets for a new audience and a new time.

I don't remember the last big muppet movie being this kiddy but I haven't seen it in years and years.

After watching the Muppet's edition of WWE RAW (although as mismatched as it was, it turned out to be really entertaining), the nostalgia in me came out and I'll be checking this movie out.

I can see why purists would be against it (Walter being modeled after Jason Segel apparantly to further leave his mark in muppet history), but I don't think its going to be as bad as its been made out to be. Its got countless celebrity cameos and any screen time with Chris Cooper is good time.

I really liked the parody trailers. They did a much better job than most of those (Insert Genre Here) Spoof Movies.

Also, my favorite Muppet movie was The Great Muppet. The opening sequence with the hot weather balloon and the "Everybody!" song were always stuck in my mind. Well that and the ever graceful Diana Rigg! :awesome:

Finally saw it, and loved every minute of this movie.

Maniacal Laugh!

Dave Grohl as Animal was expected, but I didn't think he'd be dressed up as him.

80's Robot with New Coke and Dial-Up, Man or Muppet song, too many to mention.

Saw this was a large group of friends. We all had a great time. Also, it was a bit odd that this was the first PG movie I've seen WITHOUT taking a small child.

Still trying to figure out what song Walter whistled, though.

Great movie. Everything abouy it was awesome. Chris Cooper especially deserves mention, he was phenomenal

Awesome flick! I was surprised at how well they balanced all the Muppets. They all had their moment.

Was thinking a few times during the film, if a Ghostbusters Sequel never happens and we have to deal with a remake (which we will at some point) Jason Segel would be a perfect Ray Stanntz in an updated version. Could play a Peter Venkman as well.

One of my favorite parts was when

He started to Rap and the Muppets were like WTF LOL

That was amazing and hilarious. Cooper did it pretty well too

My whole theatre was like that. It was cool seeing him in a comedy. He doesn't do them very often. In fact, the only other one I know of is Me, Myself, and Irene.

I also enjoyed how so many of the musical numbers would get interrupted by the real world.

It's called "The Whistling Caruso". Apparently it's an original piece.

Took the kids to it yesterday. Best Muppet movie since the first one. The whole theater was busting up. I love the "muppet of a man" song, I was laughing so hard I nearly peed my pants!

Just a wonderful great time, and a great bit of nostalgia. I love the 80's robot coming in with the plate with a tab and "new" coke. LOL!

The film makers did a great job, and it just goes to show you don't need 3D or a bunch of fancy special effects to make a good movie. The movie was filmed on 45 million, and I bet by the end of the holiday weekend it will have nearly made all that back.

Just great! So many good family movies out now. Going to Hugo next!

I saw it last night. Loved it! I was lucky enough to have grown up with The Muppets on TV every week and I saw the original 3 movies in the theater. I even had a "Pigs in Space" lunchbox in first grade. So I've been waiting a long time to see them back on the big screen, and this didn't disappoint at all. It was just like the old days. And I just want to hug Jason Segal right now. :oldrazz:

And I loved the musical numbers. Rainbow Connection was and always will be my favorite Muppet song, and the new version is beautiful. "Muppet or a Man" and "Life's a Happy Song" are awesome.

It was just great. Can't wait to see it again. And it did my heart good to see the little kids in front of me announce "That was AWESOME!!!" when it ended. :yay:

I just came back from seeing it, I loved it. I was worried that I wouldn't like the musical numbers but it was done really well (mostly because it was self aware). It was nice seeing the Muppets back on screen, I had a great time watching it.

9/10

(also can a mod put up a poll please?)

I've grown up with The Muppets. I remember when I was six, making sure we rushed home from dinner so I could see the brand new, and sadly short lived, Muppets Tonight that was starting on ABC, and then watching Muppet Treasure Island until the video started to wear down. And then, discovering the old films, specifically The Muppet Movie, which has always been my favorite.

While it still remains my favorite, this film stands right beside it. SO much heart, so many great laughs. It was truly a love letter in every way possible. If I ever met Jason Segal, I would shake his hand and thank him.

Any movie that can have me listen to this song and make me love it deserves kudos.;)

I'm watching The Muppet Show on dvd tonight , haven't seen these in years but it's still funny to me.

I can't wait to see this tomorrow.

My favorite song had to be the man or a muppet song with the special cameo appearance of human walter.

The film will end the week at $42 million, but only good for second place this week as they lost by $20 million to a film watched by every teen girl in the world.
