The Greatest Opening (or otherwise) Scenes Ever Thread.....

Not the greatest opening ever but I liked the way Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade transitioned from Young Indy to Harrison Ford.

As for closing-ish scenes.....

Spoilers....obvs.....

Can't believe I forgot Jaws.

Also a few of the requisite Bond and Indiana Jones openings:

And on a separate note, I'd love to put the link to the opening to The Social Network, but I feel like it has too much cursing for these boards. But from the same year, this was memorable:

This montage from The Crow and accompanied by the Cure....

It's a fun opening no doubt, but it's a little to cute for my taste and it does the annoying tendency to explain every chief characteristic of a character by having them all occur at roughly the same moment. So Indy, in the prologue, gets his hat, his fear of snakes, his penchant for using a whip, the scar on his cheek, and his lust for adventure, all in one moment--and all of the mystery and allure of the character which was so key to Raiders is explained away. Raiders had a much smarter script, it left in the mystery and relied on the suggestion rather than the explanation of the past.

It also kinda craps on Temple of Doom's character arc where he goes from "Fortune and Glory, kid" selfish treasure seeker to "Yeah...all of us/I understand its power now" respectable anti-hero. But it's a small nitpick considering how standalone the Indy films are anyway.

Disabling of the Drill in Star Trek (2009) as it finally makes Sulu the kick ass swordsmen he is.....

and from that film's opening....(gets me every time...)

Love this film in general, but this is a fun opening to a great 'throwback' comedy....

A really memorable one that comes to mind.

The Lego Batman Movie.

'Who always pays their taxes? NOT BATMAN!'

The opening of Star Trek 2009 packs a wallop right in the feels.

Also Jaws is a classic example.

Skyfall’s opening chase sequence.

The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.

Saving Private Ryan.

The opening of BvS with the battle of Metropolis from ground level is the best part of the movie.

The opening of Dredd gets me every time.

The Room. Not greatest, but it left an impression. At that point I had never seen it before seeing it with friends at a midnight viewing and it told me everything I needed to know and expect about the flick. Meeting Tommy was a trip. Both times.

this still gives me white knuckles as he is racing to the tower cause of how well edited it is
