I agree, it's going to happen.

However, I haven't bought a blu-ray player or any blu-ray movies, simply because the quality difference isn't enough to make me want to spend 10 to 20 bucks more on the movie. I'll hold out as long as I can, and most likely, by the time I finally do buy one, Blu-ray's won't be as expensive.

And probably not long after I finally buy a Blu-ray player, the next generation in movie-watching will already be taking it's place.

i have several bluray movies for my PS3 with my LG LCD widescreen monitor and its has a stunning look to it compared to DVDs, i was just watching Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker DVD and then my Batman: Gotham Nights on Bluray and it has a noticeable difference in the quality of the picture, it has more viberate colors and it stands out

Well, I think if I had a tv that was bigger than 15 inches in my room in my apartment I would consider it as well, but at this point in my life I don't really see the point unless I can actually enjoy the better quality on a screen where I could see it.

And being in college with no job as of yet...the income issues are also a factor

The picture and audio difference between DVD and Blu-ray is incredibly different, I'll never go back now. You don't have to spend an extra $10-$20 on the movie either if you shop right. Amazon.com usually has the new releases only a dollar or two more than their DVD counterpart, and you got to keep your eyes open for sales. I just got Benjamin Button for $9.99 with a $5 off coupon at Best Buy, and got Ghostbusters for $9.99 straight up

I thought it was hilarious.

I thought it was amusing at times, but Owen Wilson's schtick worked against his trying to get Rachel McAdams. And that Will Ferrell cameo at the end was just... awful. I liked Isla Fisher, McAdams and Vaughn in the movie, but Wilson just played a variation on characters he's played before.

20 bucks says WB puts no features on the regular dvds and all the features on the blu ray.

Its the same thing their doing with Observe and Report.

The thing is, Observe and Report crashed and burned at the box office. The Hangover is a completely different story -- either there'll be a barebones DVD and a infamous 2-disc 'digital copy' DVD with all the special features the Blu-ray will have. Or a DVD with some special features and the Blu-ray with all those plus more.

I like Blu, but I'm sticking with DVD for now. Not all the Blu-ray releases outdo the DVDs, not just in audiovisual presentation but not all of the extras are ported over (like some of the Fox catalog titles like Silence of the Lambs and ID4).

It still doesn't matrer if screwing people over features whether a film did well or not. If there are features on blu ray they should be put on regular dvds also.

Not everyone can afford a blu ray player and player 30 dollars for a movie.

I've never paid more than $24 for a Blu-ray myself, but are extras that big a deal for you? I watch them sometimes, but there are many Blu-rays (and DVDs) that I own and haven't watched all the features on them yet

yea, the most i ever paid for a bluray movie is $25 for Watchmen on Amazon but i pre-ordered it and the price fell to $21

i think if you paid the retail price of a Bluray movie, it might be becuase you went to a sonystyle store or some mall

I know. Disney's having a special promotion for their recent Witch Mountain remake, where there's a $10 coupon off the Blu-ray release (which is a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack). In the end, the prices and various deals at B&M stores make the Blu-ray edition an even better buy (maybe around $11-$17) because the DVD is included as well.

I like Blu-ray, but I really don't like how the studios are stiffing the DVD releases to encourage people to buy the Blu-ray version (or make Blu-ray exclusive extras ones you can't really get with DVD). Now if the studios started doing Blu-ray/DVD combo releases more often, I'd be fine with it.(And even studios like Disney and Paramount are releasing a few Blu-rays earlier before releasing the DVD, which is stupid.)

I have 14 Blu-rays and the only one I paid full price for was TDK Special Edition.

Everything else i've bought when they were on sale.

Yep, and it's been nice to see the last week a store like Best Buy running sales on Blu-ray between $9.99 and $14.99 and have featured some worthwhile titles.

OMG! I finally saw this movie (mostly because everyone had already seen it except for me) and I laughed the entire time. It was a bit long at times, but overall it was hilarious. I loved the entire cast and Bradley Cooper was great as the lead!

I personally thought Warners dropped the ball on TDK in terms of extras. Aside from a few featurettes, the IMAX-shot scenes and trailers -- both the 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray are a writeoff. A commentary as well as an extensive documentary would work wonders -- it doesn't necessarily have to involve Nolan's wishes of not allowing DVD producers to shoot B-roll footage while he's shooting.

Sorry, but for a movie that grossed $500 million domestic, I expected the red-carpet treatment despite Nolan's wishes to not give away the secrets of moviemaking. I wish the Criterion Collection had nabbed the DVD and Blu-ray rights to TDK as well as BB, at least the extras wouldn't have been disappointing and DVD fans wouldn't have to endure a mediocre transfer.

I don't expect Warners will do a lot for The Hangover -- it'd be nice to have a commentary and a trailer for the DVD (and maybe a gag reel too). I'm not that picky when it comes to comedies and DVD material.

Well to be fair it just shows the 1 disc cover only, and i'm sure all those features go to blu ray since its WB. They must have added those covers, I didn't see them before.

movies usually go about four months after theater release to home theater release or Christmas when determining release dates. The combination of The Hangover making $272 million, staying in theaters for an unprecedented amount of time, putting it near Christmas makes it a no brainier. Oh and TAC, the Blu-ray doesn't have many extra features than the 2-disc DVD

I've got a bootleg on my iPod to tide me over until Christmas. Normally I wouldn't participate in bootlegging like that, but I saw the movie twice and will definitely buy the unrated Blu-Ray, so I don't feel like I'm cheating the filmmakers.

Definitely looking forward to the picture-in-picture commentary.

They're waiting till 12/15 because this freaking movie is still printing out money at theaters.

I can't wait to see the additional pictures found at the end that weren't in the theaters.
