M. Night's Dead Planet
Date: January 22, 2007

Hey folks EL MAYIMBE here with a scoop on M. Night Shyamalan's next project.

On Tuesday Jan 16, M. Night went out to the town with a new original script, or spec entitled GREEN PLANET.

Although I originally wanted to report this last week, I held out, waiting to see who would purchase the spec.

Unfortunately, it looks like it is a pass around town, or a Pasadena. Pasadena is a term in the script world used when a new spec hits the town and has no buyers or takers.

So far, Universal, Paramount, Warner Brothers and Sony have all passed. Ouch!
The last word I heard was that Fox was still having a look, but it's looking like it'll get a pass there too.

Not much is known about GREEN PLANET, but I will report back as soon as I get any information. Now, because it wasn't purchased in the first round, that doesn't neccessarily mean that GREEN PLANET won't find a home. Many scripts don't sell first round out but what makes this interesting is that this is M. Night Shyamalan. He dominated the spec script world with everything he put out. His scripts would only be on the market 24-48 hours! After THE SIXTH SENSE, M. Night could wipe his ass with some paper and it would sell.
I'm not surprised at the passes since the infamous events during the production of Lady in the Water
ir
. He started to believe his own hype and lost his mind there, proving to the world that Nina Jacobson was right after all.

Man, how the mighty have fallen.

Stay tuned for further updates from the screenplay world...

HASTA EL PROXIMO CAPITULO...

...YO SOY EL MAYIMBE!

Man. Harshness.

Two bad movies and already he can't sell a script? Damn. That was quick.

He deserves it after that complete piece of trash known as Lady in the Water.

I actually liked Lady In The Water, it was better than the Village that's for sure.

HaHA.
I've been waiting years for this.
People are finally starting to see that the emperor is naked.
This isn't a slump for Shameonhim.
He's a colossal suck who got incredibly lucky twice.:o

I could still, however, see him becoming like the Kevin Costner of directors...flop after flop but somehow still managing to make crap movie after crap movie.

All his movies are delusional, pretentious garbage that makes my skin crawl.
But one thing The Village had going for it was superb acting.
The acting in LITW was OMFG h0rrible.

Sucks for Shyamalan.
He's made some great movies, I really dont think he's deserving of this.

I think it would be good for him to work with someone else's script for a change

I absolutely agree, wasnt he rumored for something not too long ago...
I know he was suppose to do Life of Pi but that fell through.

He supposedly signed on with MTV movies to make Avatar:The Last Airbender

Shame. I've liked everything he's done. (Haven't seen Praying with Anger and Wide Awake yet.)

Maybe this will get him making more unbreakable movies.

I thought the acting in both The Village and LITW was about the same. I have found most of Shyamalan's films enjoyable with the exception of The Village. My favorite will always be Unbreakable though.

I still remember that one commercial not too long ago that when promoting one of his movies referred to him as "The Hitchcock of our time!".. hah.

this makes me sad.... okay, hate on dude all you want... he IS a great director... he gets all of his actors to show their top game when he is directing.. yeah, his writting has gone down since the sixth sense.... but he still is a great director... I think it's time he lets other people write.....

it's also sad, because everyone has been telling this man he's the next great thing,... and now he beleives it....

With a great script, great actors, and Night's use of different atmospheres and themes I would love to see him direct a Silent Hill film. Seems like the different worlds he's created via alternate realities/paranormal would be perfect for Silent Hill.

I know some would disagree with me. But something about The Village, Sixth Sense, and Lady in the Water seem very Silent Hillish to me.

Well, I definitely would love a "good" Silent Hill film.

I thought the one Christophe Gans did was good. But it wasn't as good, creepy, or as intelligent as it should've been. But considering it's the first decent video game movie of the genre it still could've been better.

Maybe if he doesn't do a sequel they can have Night direct it? Night definitely knows how to create tension, suspense, and has a wonderful eye when it comes to visuals and atmosphere.

I see it. I think it's the eerie sense of isolation.
He'd never go in for the necessary gore though.
He's one of those, "I think Jaws would've been TRIPLY scary if you NEVER saw the shark!" guys.

Sixth Sense and Unbreakable were the only two movies, which I liked.

That's shame for director to make so bad movies after the success of his first works :down
