A Healthier Hype Challenge

I don't know about you, but one of my biggest 2009 goals is to become healthier and stronger. Now that I've had a much needed operation (years in the works) and am finally recovered enough to return to work, I know I'm ready to start regaining my strength and stamina. I know I'm a girl, and it shouldn't surprise you when I say I couldn't hurt to lose a couple pounds. Any one else out there?

Here's the challenge. Got a health related goal you wanna achieve before 2010? Post it here.

Use this thread for support, announcing when you've achieved a goal or to support your friends. Post your strategies, work out regimen, keep a food journal or whatever you need to post to keep you on track.

There is NO penalty for not achieving the goal, nor is there an award, but you can create your own. For every pound I lose this year, I'm going to donate a dollar a pound to a charity next year.

EDIT: Even if you don't have a goal, feel free to just offer support, advice and motivation to your pals. Anything deterring, stupid or negative isn't welcome.

I am horribly skinny. Does it count to have weight gaining goal?

I'm going to drop about 10 pounds and tone up.

I would like to lose 20lbs by the end of the year. That would put me on my ideal weight.

I'm in for losing 20lbs.

So, is anyone going to post a before and after shot of themselves, or photos of their progression?

I would, but I don't know if there'd be that noticeable a difference. I wouldn't go shirtless for my pic, so going from 175-180 to 190 may not look like anything.

And yes, for me to put on 10-15 pounds in a year would be quite a feat, especially since I'll be training for and riding in my first Century this summer (100 mile bike ride, 1 day).

possibly

...Umm, I think I want to join.

do it! it can be any kind of healthy goal you'd like.

EXAMPLES

* lose weight
* gain weight/muscle
* eat more vegetables
* drink more water
* go to the gym once a week
* walk/run a mile a day
* quit smoking

great thread comicchica! i'm currently overweight by about 40 pounds so i'd love to lose at least 20 pounds this year. i joined a kung fu class on Tuesday so i'm sure i'll be losing at least 10 pounds if i keep this up for the whole year.

btw, it's much harder than it looks.

I started a small diet not to long ago. Pretty much I want to eat healthier. Cut our fatty and greasy foods, cut way down on the fast food, eat small portions of food, drop the caffeinated surgery drinks, and eat more fruits and veggies. I guess we'll see how it goes. I have no specific target date or weight goal or anything, but it's nice to be consistent with it.
