I'm not calling this the Format War thread since that's over. I know there's still DVD, but honestly, 98% of the time only blu-ray and other high-def stuff was being discussed. So lets just continue where we left off.

Should call this thread The Blu-Ray Shack or something. :p

I was thinking the High-Def thread (with less HD DVD!) just to rub it in to Ian. Oh well

Well if we all can agree on a title, I'm sure we can get a mod to change it. The one I came up with was the first thing that popped into my head.

Anything worth getting this month or does all the good stuff start coming out next month?

There's not many possibilities for me this month. Big Trouble in Little China and Dexter Season 3 seem to be it.

haha, finally, a title we can work with!

i really want punisher war zone, how's the pq?

the PQ is pretty good, the movie is intentionally grainy so you have to factor that. The sound is fantastic though

I wasn't fan of the movie at all, but it did look good.

i remember seeing it at the movies, i liked the darkness in it. and there's a green, yellowy tint right? like in the ennis comics?

I mean if you enjoyed the movie already, then you should get the blu-ray. PQ is pretty damn good and it sounded amazing.

It's good to see someone else liked that movie. It wasn't the greatest but I think they got the character right .

How does the 3D look? I'm curious how it looks from a TV screen.

It's a cool gimmick but I wouldn't make the 3D version your first viewing of the movie. Assuming you haven't seen it. A lot of the color palette is washed out and you lose a lot of the vibrant colors when watching it in 3D because of the glasses. It's cool to check out once you watched the regular version of the movie. But the 3D does show a surprising amount of depth though.

From all of the reviews I read 3D even on Blu-ray is still for the most part a gimmick. It can detract heavily from the picture quality and I have seen some people say it can actually give you a headache. I haven't seen it in action for myself but from everything I read I would say check out the 2D version for the first viewing and the second viewing go for the 3D just to satisfy your curiousity. That is just my opinion.

I wouldn't bother with 3D until they get it like the Real3D at the theater. Heck, even that gives me eye strain for the first 10 minutes, I can't imagine what the blue/red glasses would do. lol.

Yeah, it takes time for your eyes to adjust to it. But hey, it came with the package so I checked it out. Wouldn't go out of my way to just buy it in 3D.
