The Human Centipede

some horror sites had wrote about this movie claiming it was an effectively scary movie

I read an interview with the director, and despite coming off like a guy whose really into himself and who thinks everyone he works with and all his ideas are "genius"(which makes me not like him. at all.), he did make some good points about effectively scaring people. However, this movie sounds more outrageously over the top than anything, and for some reason, i'm intrigued, if only for the fact that the film seems to be hysterically funny and for all the wrong reasons.

That's my problem with films like these. I'm a horror fan, a pretty big one, but films like this and "Inside", aren't scary. In fact, despite "pushing the envelope" in terms of violence on screen, nothing about it is appealing, nothing is scary, and after a while, it stops being disturbing and suddenly becomes either too ridiculous to waste time with or laugh out loud awful, and sometimes both. It becomes gratuitous to be gratuitous and serves no purpose at all.

I'm all for gratuitous, over the top violence.

The problem with Inside was not the ridiculous violence/shock scenes...it was everything else. It was the fact that the film insulted your intelligence with cardboard characters doing things no human would ever do just to get to the next shock without having to put any effort into story. It COULD have been a very creepy and shocking film, if we actually cared at all about what was happening, but the film was betrayed by the script and story.

The Human Centipede is a little different. No matter what they do, there is no way that the audience can fully invest emotionally into the concept of a guy surgically connecting people ass to mouth. It aint happening. Inside was, at it's core, a woman fighting for her life and her babies life against a woman trying to stab/cut the baby out of the womb. THAT can affect the viewer! The Human Centipede just needs to embrace it's insanity and take the viewer on a ridiculous ride. I have a feeling that they are taking themselves a bit too seriously with it, but I'll give it a shot anyway.

This movie looks so weird from the previews and seems right up my alley. I want to see this.

I agree. You gotta have..a moral compass of some kind in a movie like this. You gotta root someone but if you're focusing on a complete nutcase, then it's like.."okay..."

Um um um. ****!! I dunno what to even think right now. I mean WTF seriously?!?! Im confused, perplexed, Im flabbergasted, bamboozled yet Im intrigued. This is some ****ed up ****

so wait. The human centipede is people stitched ass to mouth, one after another? Dibs on being the one who is first in line. I would hate to be the last one.

i mean, like, it's very cruel and the girls don't deserve it. That's why when "Two Girl One Cup" (I've never seen it thank God) came out, did anyone ever thought that there's men with guns pointing at them off camera FORCING them to do stuff like that. It's dark stuff, and here, the movie seems to 'romance' it.

Youd hate being the last one?!?! What about the middle one!!! This is just to much I gotta go get a ****ing drink or something after watching the trailer.

A dvd version of this film can be found online for those who want to view this. I haven't and prolly won't. Atleast right now anyway.

Random question...

I just saw this movie and it is AWESOME!!!!!

I'm trying to keep track of movies I've seen this year for the first time, since my friends always ask me what my favorite movies of the year were...

This film was just released in limited release in the US...but apparently was shown overseas and in some festivals several months ago.

So, is this a 2009 or 2010 release?

Oh yeah!!!

Dont get me wrong...this type of movie is not for everyone. The concept alone was enough to make my girlfriend refuse to watch it. However, the suspense is built quite well, the cinematography is good, the main villain is creepy...and for people like me that enjoy disturbed concepts in their horror, it was well done and effective without going overboard on the gross visuals.

yeah, if you are the last one, by the time whatever the first person ate gets to you it would be so putrid and smooshy it would be like filth soup

Then again, this assumes that the inside of your mouth is even part of the process. From the trailers it looks like the doctor connects the upper esophagus directly to the colon. It's possible that the person's tongue wouldn't even come into play. They wouldn't taste anything of the filth soup once it got to them.

My god, this movie actually made me think that out. This is something evil at work.

I saw this earlier. I'm not sure what I'd rate this movie. I didn't hate it, but I can't say I liked it, either. It's just kind of average at best. The concept is more disturbing than the finished result, which ends up being more hilarious than anything. I wouldn't be upset if I never see this movie again.

2009 because it toured a hell of a lot of festivals around the world last year. That's how I saw it last year too.

Can't believe I only just realized how easily "The Human Centipede" could be turned into a sex position.

As a follow up to this statement, I just found out that someone's making a porn parody: The Human Sexi-pede. Rule 34 remains unbroken.
