The Hype TV Club

I have too many streaming platforms as it is. I have read the Silo books so I'm familiar with the story. The books were great so I wish you guys the best with the show. :) I have no problem splitting August like you suggest.

The Bear which I have less than zero interest in

Sounds to me like you should ditch the ridiculously overpriced dead weight *cough*Netflix*cough* and trade up. :oldrazz:
You want me to blow your minds? Netflix Basic (1 screen, 720p) and Apple TV+ are only $1.50 more than Netflix Standard.

Honestly Apple rarely has anything I'm eager to see. Besides Silo I think Blackbird was the only other thing. Netflix has more content than I can keep up with.

The Bear 1×5, exploding toilets! Yay! *barf*

Justified 1×4 I can watch Raylan strut all day. :swoon:

Hey, just a heads-up that The Bear season 2 is not yet out for anyone outside the US so be very careful of possible spoilers for those of us still waiting, especially since it is not the TV Club show until next month when it is available for everyone.

Finished season 1 of The Bear. It has grown on me. It's still not a comedy, but is a heartbreaking, ugly angry mess with the occasional funny bit tossed in. I will continue on to season 2.

Didn't realize you never finished. You're in for a treat with seasons 4 and 6.
Got sidetracked with TNG after Picard came out in March. Feels like a better fit for the summer/BBQ season anyways. The introduction of crazy hogman, Limestone, makes me want to change my mind and cook some pork next weekend.

In honor of TV club and the return of my favorite show tonight, my 10 favorite Justified characters:

justified-hat.gif

10. Boon: Boon isn’t around long, but every moment he is, I’m transfixed. In many ways, the answer to if Raylan was the son Arlo always wanted, a gunfighter worthy of Raylan’s effort, if not time.

9. Wynn Duffy: Where other villains try to deceive themselves in terms of their motivates, righteous, and talent, Wynn Duffy knows exactly the kind of garbage he is. And I have to respect that.

8. Dickie Bennett: If Boyd’s the devil, Dickie’s the second, much less successful attempt at rebellion. Genuinely subhuman, who’s not as half as smart as he likes to think he is, he’s as fascinating as he is pathetic.

7. Chief Deputy US Marshal Art Mullen: The father Raylan always wanted, and the one he can’t help but disappoint time and again. And yet Art never gives up on him and I love him for it.

6. Deputy US Marshal Tim Gutterson: The scars of war are not always apparent. Especially with one who’s coping mechanism is humor. That’s why you know when Tim pulls, it’s serious.

5. Dewey Crowe: The little Nazi puppy dog from Florida. They don’t come much dumber then Dewey, who runs mostly on instinct. And in that you find a humanity that’s so unexpected, I can’t help but find a soft spot in my heart for him.

4. Mags Bennett: In a world crafted off the back of her people’s forgotten labor, Mags had to be twice as presentable, twice as smart, and twice as hard. What that spawned is not a pretty sight, but that doesn’t mean I don’t get it.

3. Loretta McCready: Raylan’s first born (fight me), like all the kids in Harlan, Loretta was asked to grown up to fast. Armed with Mags’ mind and Raylan’s heart, she what the villains likes to think they are.

2. Boyd Crowder: A snake oil salesman, born a century too late, Boyd knows two things. How to blow **** up and how to lie. The latter to a point, that he even tricks himself into thinking he isn’t half bad every once in a while. And honestly, who can’t appreciate a smile you can shoot in the dark.

1. Deputy US Marshal Raylan Givens: Like the others from Harlan, Raylan is a man shaped by his environment. But unlike most of the others, he fights it everyday, to be a man that his father detests and the women in his life know he can be. I know his anger, I live with it, and the war in can cause in a person. It’s why when I finally grow up, I want to be the man in the hat.

Oh, and my favorite TV spot:

That whole cast has been stellar from season to s3ason. :D I love a supporting cast that good.

@DarthSkywalker, does every Limehouse scene involve barbecue? I am getting the suspicion that it does and I like it! I'm noticing a pattern with the show's antagonists. Beau Crowder hung out in his bar, Mags was always making moonshine, now we got the king of Holler BBQ.

Also, I gotta assume that they cast a doppelganger of Rick from Pawn Stars as Glen Fogle on purpose. :funny:

Not just BBQ, but usually some good blues playing in the background too. :D

Next month's pick anyone?

I nominate The Bear, The Foundation, Silo, She-Ra, and The Righteous Gemstones.

I thought we were splitting the month with Silo and the Bear?

I'm open to any decision as I was planning to watch season2 of the Bear regardless. I don't have access to Silo or The Foundation.
