I know that in my tenure here there have been many car/truck threads that have come and gone but none have ever been all encompassing to both cars, trucks and automotive news. The automotive industry is going through major changes right now and I think most of us like, own, or at the very least, drive cars pretty regularly so I have created this thread to discuss everything deemed automotive.

Enjoy!

I'll start it off with all this news regarding Daimler Chrysler looking to unload Chrysler...

GM in talks to buy Chrysler

Renault-Nissan not interested in Chrysler

Hyundai denies it wants to buy Chrysler

Volkswagen says not interested in Chrysler

Looks as though the only one even interested is GM, but they're not exactly making money hand-over-fist anymore...

Make sure you park my car somewhere well lit and I know how much change is in the ash tray.

Yeah... I don't drive those... park it yourself there spiffy...

It gets good gas mileage. :o :csad:

There is never an excuse to drive a Focus...

Does the club meet in that nasty, run-down garage with the logo that looks like "Cops"?

I've only owned one car, a 1977 white Toyota Corolla.
They rust well so it looked exactly like a grilled tortilla with wheels.
You literally had to use a screwdriver to start it and when my neighbor complained that it was always in the driveway, I sold it to him for $50.
It had a "Born Again" sticker and a Jesus Fish on the back that my parents left there when they sold it to me for one dollar.

My dream car is a white 1976 Monte Carlo with Aqua tinted windows and baby blue leather interior.

I'm mildly interested in buying Chrysler, but if you're Chrysler, don't get freaked out. I probably won't buy you.
Puerto Rico said it wants to buy you but Puerto Rico was drunk when they said that.

That's all I have to say about cars.

My ex drove a Focus. :woot:

And not to sound sexist (Okay I am.) but I think Focus's and most VW's are feminine. If I see a yellow VW Beetle and I pull up to it and it's some dude in the car, I think the dude wonders why I mouth the words wtf.

What is it with Ford and their car names? They have an even worse one: The Ford Probe. :down

I drive a cherry 2000 Toyota Tacoma Extended Cab 4x4 with the TRD suspension. I've had it since the Fall of '99 (I'm the original owner) and have really enjoyed this truck. It drives like a dream, has a lot of extras (moon roof, power package, towing package), and actually gets pretty decent gas mileage for a V6. I'll probably drive this truck for many years to come as I just love the damn thing. :)

MY buddies and I used to get a good laugh out of putting the word "Anal" before any car name ESPECIALLY Fords...

Toyota's Trucks have ALWAYS been awesome. To this day one of the hardest Pickups to find is an old 80s Toyota Pickup, they run until they literally deteriorate... The Tacomas and Tundras of late have been damn near unstoppable on the market. It's a shame that after the american companies lost pretty much the ENTIRE car market that the truck market is slipping as well. The only thing we barely make correctly anymore is Diesels... and even that is starting to slip...

The only way I'd give up my Tacoma at this point is if I came across a Tundra that had everything I love in a truck. Toyota makes the best pickups on the market without a doubt. They build them to last like we USED to in the U.S. Nissan's putting out some pretty good trucks lately, as well. I'll never buy another U.S. made car again because they just fall apart after a few years. Toyota, Honda and Nissan (and even Subaru to a certain extent) are building cars that have longevity and quality workmanship to them. I'm planning on dumping my wife's Explorer later this year and getting her into something like a Toyota Sequoia.

Heh, I'm gonna go against the grain here and admit I drive an American made car.

My current ride is a '91 Camaro RS, completely stock. It does have a V8, but it's the 305. Probably the crappiest 8 cylinder ever. She's very pretty, though. White as snow. I'm looking to have some upgrades done when I get the cash.

On a side note, I did once have a dream car. Not THE dream car, but one of 'em (for me). A bright red '97 Trans Am with all the trimmings, right down to a performance exhaust and cold-air intake, not to mention a Monsoon sound system (with upgraded speakers all around) and t-tops. I had it for 4 days before totaling it because a bad decision and slick road. I actually had an appointment to buy new tires that day...

Anyways, I guess this is the place for all that, huh?

But it's such a rush. It's the like opposite of thinking when you type them, like a Sudoku puzzle but in reverse.:csad:

Plus it's like dat crakk.

Actually Toyota just celebrated the opening of their EIGHTH U.S. factory so essentially, you're still buying a U.S. made truck. I'm still waiting to see what Toyota's first Heavy Duty Truck does in comparison, however the Titan IS a beast and performs well. Dodge has managed to fix most of the flaws during the degradation of the Ford Empire and GMs financial problems. So far the only Heavy Duty Trucks worth owning would have to be the Rams and the Titans, even though Toyota's newest looks to be quite impressive.

You burned it out in only one day. :(

More on topic, if I had the extra $$$, I'd find myself a sweet '67 Camaro SS. All black. Chromed out. Tinted down windows. Think of the car in "Better Off Dead". Old school American muscle cars are awesome.

I'm guessing you don't have much of a commute eh?

Yeah, I know Toyota builds most of their stuff domestically these days. They're still Japanese owned, though. And the new Tundra is wiping the walls with the competition in every single comparison test I've seen so far. Pretty impressive stuff.

Lol, it's not too bad at the moment, no. Gas money isn't an issue right now, so I'm enjoying it while I can, :D
