Watched that HBO documentary on Curt Cobain. Now I'm completely depressed.

Well that kind of sucked, drove all the way out to Ybor for the Bobby Lee show and he ended up cancelling but they had the wrong number on file for me so I never got a call. I got a refund and we went to Game Time which is like a wannabe Dave & Busters. Played a couple games and then came across the bridge. At least I got out of the house

I don't feel that way. He was ADD and bi-polar at least and not getting any care for it. He was doomed for sure.

And Bipolar I can kind of understand, since severely bipolar people are unstable during mood swings. But how does ADD get tied to suicidal depression? That's completely unrelated.

It's not necessarily and neither is Aspergers, yet because my Aspergers kid got royally picked on in school she's never quite recovered from it. Those things that make us different and outcasts can exaserbate a preexisting depression. These combos are not a death sentence but they can break people without good support systems. This documentary seemed to show that Curt did not have a good support system when he was young and it left him permanently damaged.

I just think you were oversimplifying the connection by saying because he had ADD and bipolar disorder he was automatically doomed. If I sound sensitive about it, it's because I routinely see a lot of misinformation about it (ADD in particular; half of the people think it's a made up diagnosis and that people who have it are just "lazy", and the other half think it's the same as depression or ******ation). So you can hopefully understand why I bristled a bit about your statement. Not that you or Kurt Cobain did this, but I also get upset when those who have ADD use it as an excuse to feel sorry for themselves or wallow in self-pity, as I think it's a great gift that makes me more creative and innovative in a way. I don't think Kurt Cobain would have been Kurt Cobain the grunge God without his ADD or bipolar disorder. He would have been Curtis Cobain, the 9-5 insurance salesman.

I agree with your last. Curt was who he was because of how he was. A brilliant and creative person with difficulties he couldn't overcome. It's a shame that sometimes that kind of creativity comes at so high a price.
