I think they have changed the colour.

I think the new CGI shot is from the same scene but just a bit later on. The lighting then should be the same if it is the same scene so I think they have changed the colour of the skin.

It's the same shot, (or near enough) differently graded or adjusted. The 2nd picture looks like it's poorly graded.

Sometimes photos or videos are released and they're just poorly colour balanced. Too much contrast, wrong saturation etc. I remember there was a pic for the old hulk movie where Hulk looked bad - his hair looked purple. But later a different version of the exact same pic surfaced with the proper colours and it looked good - it's not that they CHANGED the colours on the hulk himself, they just released a wrongly adjusted picture. It could have been the same with a live action photo.

In fact, here's that shot:

I'd say there is a nice improvement in this scene.

Seems they've added some sweat effects atleast. Although it might look more cartoonish due to the brighter green and glowing eyes.

now that's what i've been talking about

a good range between light and dark, contrast
lighting is everything
theres white in the picture now, there black
the teeth are alive now, the hair

looks like someone is doing there job

too bad all the day time shots are during overcast

aww well, cgi looks great so far

(and thats a low quality poor contrast image. Those guys deserve a medal, for changing my mind so quick)

New hulk definately, both are great CGI wise, ones a green man though and the others the hulk! :woot:.

You really think the lower one lookes better? It's all grey and washed out/blown out. Was it captured from the videos embedded in IGN? Because the video quality on them is poor - they're all washed out like that due to the encoding or whatever.

NuHulk's face rules, but it falls apart below the neck. The body shape is fine - better than AngHulk, but the super-rippedness looks bad. I think he'd actually look physically more real if he had normal muscle tone. There's somethink fake looking about 0% bodyfat.

There are two versions of Louis Leterrier's Hulk floating about so I used both for a comparision.

It's funny how I never though there was anything wrong with the old hulk's face at the time - and in a sense there isn't really anything "wrong", but the new version definitely captures that Jack Kirby kind of look so much better.

He is really starting to look like the Hulk as drawn originally. I cannot wait until I see the movie in July.

yes i very much think so

all that's lacking in most of R&H's work is that pop factor, they get so caught up in detail and having their creatures have all this realistic fur and bright red capes that flutter in the wind
all the while their stuff always looks like a rubbery neo vs 100x smith good motions good hair good fabric movement(not that they did the matrix movies) but pasty rubbery obviously cgi...cgi

if they could just get over that final hurtle of making their work pop to life they would be on top by now(cause they pretty much are the best in all the other categories)
cept the one that matters most

that picture of hulk even though low res tells me enough
they finally get it
or maybe they finally have a director who gets it(transporter2 had lots of contrast as opposed to superman returns...in photography alone)

i reference a piece i did a long time ago
i was experimenting and what i learned early on is that contrast brings the pictures to life
of course i get alittle too caught up in it and these days i'm a bit more subtle and naturalistic(al mona lisa's rendering approach) but chariscuro(sp) is key

I see more Sal Buscuma/Herb Trimpe/ Marie Severin than Kirby.

Funny, it looks like a photo, not a living thing.

not sure what's so different about that new shot

he has a shirt on?

If he was rendered with a human skin colour as opposd to green, I feel we would'nt be having this conversation.
Anyone remember the section on the cgi on the dvd for the first film. There was an image of what looked like the hulk rendered in human skin tones and it looked much more real than the green version. But hey its THE HULK he must be green.

Obviously isthe green element which makes him look more cartoonish. With human skin tones I think he would look very realistic.

It's pointless to argue with some of these "critics". If this film get's more positive responces, I'm sure insecure fans of some of the Hulks compitition will try to deminish it by throwing out their little arm-chair SPFX artist points.

Thats so true, this is whats been happening anyway before anyone has even seen the film. Are people so genuinely concerned for the hulk franchise that they showing tough love or are they just pontlessly hating on the hulk?

I would like to think it's the former, but I know it is more of the latter. We've had too many non-regulers pop in with Hit and Run negative comments, and the others who just keep posting the same negative smack day after day.

But hey, at least none of us get suckered into watching Ellen, eh?

I like these comparisons. We need some more quality screen caps from '03 Hulk.
