It's pointless to argue with some of these "critics". If this film get's more positive responces, I'm sure insecure fans of some of the Hulks compitition will try to deminish it by throwing out their little arm-chair SPFX artist points.

I can't agree more.... The actual film will change many opinions I think. Yeah, it's gonna be that good!

I watched the trailer at the cinema and it was poor in the effects department. Really.

And the whole crowd reacted pretty bad to the scream scene and that awful one in which he kicks Tim Roth.

It was really pitiful CGI, even for a trailer.

I love the "animal" look they are giving him in these movie, and i Know for sure they will change the wide open black mouth shot, that everyone has been talking about, and that will be the money shot...it will look glorious!

Batfans are a superstitious and cowardly lot.

Complete opposite reaction of people at my theater when I went to see Iron Man... which would be Hulk's target audience anyway.

And really, someone is still trying to bash these effects as being "poor"? :whatever: Really.

The same movie, Iron Man: which is, BTW, one of the best superhero movies ever. Great cast, tight and well-written story, top-notch effects, unbelievable armour, etc.

A small correction, if I may: I'm not "trying", I'm bashing it indeed . :oldrazz:

The FX used to create Hulk made him look like Xbox. Something went wrong, and it's showng on the big screen.

But his roar is far better than that used by Ang Lee's team. If the creature was well-made, it would be quite scary. :cwink:

Wow, saying it looks like a video game. No one here has heard that weak, lame, boring, stale, floating in the tiolet snipe before....

Maybe an Armorer for Spartans (I made the helmet in the Avatar), but I'm a bit too Irish to have Abs.

Well firstly, no the effects have never looked like he was from an xbox game, if xbox games looked that good I'd be thrilled. Secondly, does it matter? We know from the tv spots how drastically the CGI has improved and those are what will get most people aware of this movie.

I'm an old school practical effects fan, some of my favourite work was in early 80's werewolf flicks 'The Howling' and 'An American Werewolf In London' by Rob Bottin and Rick Baker respectively. I'm also smart enough to realise due to budget and also the risk of a practical effect not working out some things need CGI.

I'm more than happy with the majority of shots I've seen so far.

The last time I saw practical effects being used for the Hulk was in pics leaked from the 90's when they were aiming for a full-body animatronic. Needless to say, it looked ridiculous in ways I can't even get into. Even if Stan Winston was working on this Hulk, I don't think it'd be very "practical" in the long run. There are feats that a guy in stilts and a prosthetic could never pull off without a CG replacement. Either way, it's gonna look a little awkward when it can't happen in real life to begin with.

That's why I choose not to be too critical about this Hulk. Is the design a little off? Yeah. Is the CGI as good as what ILM could've done? No. But, all things considered, it's better to go with this direction than the embarrassing option of getting a "big guy" and hoping the audience won't laugh too hard.

I would like to think it's the former, but I know it is more of the latter. We've had too many non-regulers pop in with Hit and Run negative comments, and the others who just keep posting the same negative smack day after day.

But hey, at least none of us get suckered into watching Ellen, eh?

lol.

Whilst I consider myself a non-regular, who DID make some negetive comments, I don't think they were hit and run and I'm exstatic things look to be on track, be it CGI and lately marketing.

Here you go. Quick job.
Tried to get as much green out and add more human tones as I could.

I don't see why people keep bashing the CG. I don't really know how far the technology has come but to me it looks great. I don't see how much more realistic it can get if it's a character made completely in a virtual environment.

The CGI is a little iffy for me in parts. Some shots look good, some shots not-so-much. I don't think thats really debatable. In any case, as it is right now is tolerable for me. As long as the story and action are good I will be a happy camper

its not that simple. you can not change the skin color and say that this is how he would look with normal skin color.
i see green parts in the dark shadows. this should have been dark bright red. the SSS effect.

one of the best scenes is the last scene where hulk has two cars in hes hands. i think this is a really really really good render.
