Will he have a billy club and how will it function? Will he be able to swing??

I imagine Matt's white cane will turn into his billy club. I know he had one in the Affleck movie, but did it have the curved handle at the end to hook onto anything or was it completely straight like a pair of nunchakus?

It did not have the curved handle. There were to hooks that popped out instead, like a grappling hook.

I'm guessing he might not have the cable on it right at the beginning though.

I wouldn't mind if they drop the "magic billy club" angle. His cane is just a cane.

What du you mean magic? I don't think it's anything special at all. One piece contains a grappling hook and the other one is for throwing. What's wrong with that?

I don't necessarily NEED it to function as a grappling hook, but the billy club itself is 100% essential.

By "magic" I mean "it turns from a billy club into something that looks like a cane". In live action, your not really going to sell that without making it some kind of SHIELD-tech gadget, which Matt really shouldn't have. Billy club with a grapple line, sure, but skip the "disguises itself as a cane".

They do make canes that have cables run through the inside and they collapse down into 3 or 4 pieces for storage. Sort of like the sticks you use on camping tents. A cane that turns into a 2 part Billy club isn't very far fetched

I think it cam across pretty credibly in the Affleck movie. It was one of the more successfully adapted elements from the mythology in my opinion. Didn't seem magical or like out-of-control super technology.

It's no picture or anything but here's a small bit from Marvel's April solicits:

Costume and set designs. Costume. So close.

"see the costume and set designS"

Set doesn't mean there's only one set either. Or did you expect it to be one man in one costume on one set for the entire series, lol.

You wouldn't write "costumeS and setS designs," it's improper grammar.

....

All I meant was, "Damn. So close." As in... so close to having some real info. Maybe I should have been more clear but my penis can only get so erect... :woo:

Well I hope it's the DD costume we haven't seen, and not that he needs Vaseline to get into that ninja outfit.

I love how the article deftly segues from a question about whether Charlie went commando while wearing the costume to, "We got our first glimpse of Cox..."

Ah, gotcha. I'm sorry. I thought you had jumped to s conclusion based on the phrasing. My mistake.

I just wish we could see it. I get this is based on the 1993 miniseries look, but the 1989 tv movie came first. You think they'd want to avoid the comparisons as much as possible.

Now that we've seen the trailer, I think it's safe to say there won't be much comparisons.

Will there be comparisons with Trial of Incredible Hulk though really, you'd have to be in your 30s at least to have seen that unless you really liked the Hulk or Daredevil and watched in which case you probably aren't going to be put off by the costume looking the same.

I'd never even heard of Trial of the Incredible Hulk till someone mentioned it on these boards.

They'd probably rather avoid Affleck Daredevil comparisons because that was only 12 years ago, and it was a serious big budget film not some cheesy TV movie.

Comparisons to what? The Hulk movie version or the 2003 movie version? Because even after the trailer (which was AMAZING by the way) I still think the costume looks almost the same as the TV movie one.

I'm not saying it doesn't look like the one from the tv movie. I'm saying "will there really be people to care about that with a show that looks that good?".

For me personally, it's a bit jarring because I really want to see DD's suit done justice (although I didn't mind the 2003 movie costume that much), and not just for one episode, and instead it seems he'll be wearing something very similar to a costume I ridiculed and disliked...

Other than that, I think the show will be fantastic, by the looks of it. Great cast, tone, cinematography and story. I have no major gripes about anything else apart from the suit. I don't think it will affect the quality of the show of course, but it really is something I am not too fond of.

Even Charlie Cox made the comparison. The point is, as Norek said, we want the character to be done justice and not have it resemble the version that was ridiculed and disliked.
