The Jazz Appreciation Thread

But wait, there's more! ;)

Weather Report - Gibraltar (amazing drum and percussion work from Alex Acuna and Marco Badrena. Nice sax work from Wayne Shorter as expected but bizarre that there's hardly any focus on Joe Zawinul and Jaco Pastorius (RIP to the both of them))

Return to Forever - Romantic Warrior
[YT]lObVilGPjHc[/YT]

Niacin - Mean Streets (amazing Van Halen cover. Couldn't find an actual clip but nothing than a fan replicating Dennis Chambers on the drums. Awesome nonetheless)

Nice. I'm not going to do any work today but I'll listen to them anyway. :awesome:

Some of my favourites are:

Spyro Gyra
Grover Washington Jr
Diana Krall
Ella Fitzgerald
Bob James
Fourplay
Mezzoforte
Duke Ellington
Dave Brubeck
Paul Desmond
Astrud Gilberto
Tom Jobim
David Benoit
Brenda Russell

and most of the classics

Nice bump. I'm digging this "Black Hole Sun" song.

I was asked to make a jazz mix featuring the old classics for someone, and now I'm stuck in the heavenly world of jazz. It's insane how much talent worked together at the time. The Milestones album is pretty much like if Batman, Spider-man, and the X-Men hooked up just to whoop some ass and do some dancing in the meantime.

Just realized that I haven't bumped this all year with different music. Ah well. Here goes.

Gregory Porter's "Be Good" is a song that many guys could probably relate to at some point. Check it out.

E-Man, what are your thoughts on Robert Johnson?

He's blues, which isn't really my cup of tea despite being born in Dallas. I recognize the talent, but I can't really say that I'm a fan. Love the backstory though. Myths can be more fun than reality sometimes.

R.I.P. to Joe Sample

Miles Davis is the man. Also been spinning some Bohren & Der Club of Gore lately, fantastic stuff.

2015 bump with Esperanza Spalding and her cinnamon tree.
