If the rumor that Scoot McNairy will play Jimmy Olsen does turn out to be correct (sketchy source--someone somewhere claiming to be an extra for BvS reportedly posted it), I'm actually very intrigued to see how this character is rewritten. He's evidently going to have lost his lower legs during the Black Zero event. And he seems to appear in some important capacity at the Senate hearing held to investigate an event Superman gets blamed for by Senator Finch. I.e., he's sitting in the area where the attorneys and witnesses are located.

It seems a bit strange to me that McNairy's role is still being kept under wraps. I recall some speculation that McNairy might play Metallo. But my sense is that between Lex and Doomsday, adding Metallo might crowd playing field with one too many supervillains.

Has any consensus emerged by now that McNairy appears to be a version of Jimmy Olsen that lost his (lower) legs? This thread has a poll but it was over the summer and the results are anything but a consensus.

I was joking at first but now that I've thought about it I would've really loved for Garfield to have played this Luthor.

Of course not as much as I would loved Jake Gyllenhal or Christian Bale for the part.

• the first Transformers film (just that one from that series, though)
• Eagle Eye (he's actually very good in it, imho)
• and he's wonderful, actually, in The Greatest Game Ever Played.
