All good, but they are not worth spit next to The Judge from Blood Meridian.

I disagree. Ledger was all over the place too. Waltz was a little better though.

He was all over the place in terms of looniness, yes. But he was doing the same thing throughout the whole movie. Waltz mixed it up a bit, see him in Chapter 1 and see him in Chapter 5, he's almost two totally different people.

tough choice between hans and joker...

i voted Hans for his originality.

Waltz as Landa was the absolute best one for me.

The guy started from scratch and had no room for over-the-top mannerisms. He talked like 3 different languages perfectly and had subtleties that are quite hard to grasp.
4 different languages.

I'm going with The Joker because I have never seen whatever movie the first guy is from, and Anton...though a cool character...really just has that cool factor going for him. It's not like there's any depth to him. That's not to say that i dont love the character...it was exactly what the movie called for, and it's a great movie.
You've never seen Inglourious Basterds? WTF?

Yeah...I think he should at least watch it before he judges...

Bardem played Anton Chigurh as if he were a living rock. He didn't emote all that much, show variation in his voice, or change his facial expression from a blank, stoic stare. Which together made for a very uneasy, chilling character, but any good actor could pull off as much with little preparation. Great character, but I'd say this is the weakest of the three (but I certainly don't mean that in a bad way).
I agree that the character didn't call for as much range as the other two, but it was by no means a one note performance. Yes it was mostly a case of Bardem being blank in the eyes and emoting a monster, but there was definitely variation. Most notably in the scene
where he takes pleasure in toying with Woody Harrelson and is then confused by Harrelson calling him crazy
Also, the scene with the petrol station guy was a masterclass in building tension.

I voted for Chigurh as he was my favourite character of the decade, but all three were top class acting.

He was creeping, crawling f***ing death personified! What more do you people want?!?

I liked Anton a lot but I felt if Tommy Lee Jones had a shot, he would have been able to take him out.

I thought Inglorious Basterds was overrated . Tarantino characters all ways do the same things in his movies. Chigurh vs Joker is a tough one . But I Give the Joker slight since a terrorist is worst than a hitman . Chigurh just wanted the Money .

He's totally stoppable. The ending proves it.

The ending proves what? That Chigurgh lives on to kill another day? The ending to No Country was brilliant. Completely ambiguous and unnerving. You don't know whether Chigurgh killed Moss' innocent little wife, and he lives on to as I said, kill another day.

Waltz for me. His performance was truly, truly, truly stunning. Spoke 4 different languages, FLUENTLY and as already mentioned, the subtleties in his characterization of Landa was amazing.

The opening scene of the movie, warm and friendly at first. Then the way he comforting smile turns into a cold blooded stare as the guy hesitates with the questions was truly unsettling.

And who can forget the scene with the strudels and cream?

I bet you haven't even seen Inglorious Basterds. Because honestly, anyone who isn't impressed by Waltz in that movie is a ****ing philistine who doesn't have a clue about acting.

Waltz was creepy while being a perfect fine delicate and tactful gentleman.

I can't compare any of them or what makes them superior or inferior to eachother, because there's nothing wrong with any of their performances. They're all diabolichal in their own ways, I guess what it comes down to is what your preference of evil is.

They were all great. But The Joker was the greatest. No doubt.

To each their own, imo, etc...

:hoboj:No Doubt.:cwink:

you need a fourth selection for TIE

copout? totally
truth? i think so

itd be great if Waltz won best supporting actor, to complete the set lol

The whole theme of the movie really is that the Sheriff can't keep up with the new breed of evil that Chigurh represents.

Chigurh represents an elusive evil that can't be caught or stopped and seems to have supreme control over the modern world. If the Sheriff could take him out, then it would be a much brighter world then the one established in the story.

And it completely goes against that whole idea of Chigurh anyway. He can damage inflicted upon him, but his last line, "You never saw me." and then walks away unnoticed says everything about his presence in the film.

Agreed with this.

I actually wasn't as big a fan of No Country or Basterds as movies, but there's no denying the greatness of their respective villains.

But he was just a hit man, he didn't do anything all that wacky outside of self surgery. No where near the psychotic Molotov cocktail that the Joker was. I have not seen Inglorious Basterds yet to weigh in on that character, but the anton guy would be dead last.
