The Killers' Day & Age

after listening to the album as a whole a couple times through; i can really appreitiate just about everything but the last song. Im starting to really dig Neon Tiger.

I've only heard one song from Day & Age and to this day, I still don't get what "are we human or are we dancer" means. I need enlightment! Anyone?

What do you think it means? What does it mean to you? What does it make you think of? Music.

Day & Age gets better the more you listen to it. I didn't like any of it at first, and I'm a big Killers fan, but it's grown on me now. Definitely not as good as their previous work though.
had to do the same for Kanyes new cd....I listened to it 3-4 times and its now my favorite of his cd's(strange but true)
as for this the more i listen the better it gets...i listen to it alot now...very good songs on this cd

i was confused...but i went on wiki and spotted this

There has been considerable confusion and debate over the line "Are we human or are we dancer?" in the song's chorus.[5] Many have incorrectly heard "denser" instead of "dancer", a change which significantly alters the interpretation of the song's meaning. On the band's official website, the biography section states that Flowers is singing "Are we human, or are we dancer?" and also says that the lyrics were inspired by a disparaging comment made by Hunter S. Thompson about how America was raising a generation of dancers.[6]
Entertainment Weekly's Pop Watch section called this line the "silliest lyrics of the week". They were puzzled by the interpretation, stating "most dancers are generally human".[7] Ganz with Rolling Stone called the line "classic Killers' nonsense."[4]

With a name like the killers you think man.. This band must kick ass.... but no..

No, they do not. :( mediocre at its best.

I will definately give you that. I'm not saying it's overly terrible.. It's just same old same old.

See, now you're getting it!

Now, if the line had been "I've got soul but I'm not James Brown" that would have made sense.

That won't have rhyme as well as soldier though.

in some cases thats not such a bad thing. I think it applies here. They've found an itch they can scratch in the music world.

"I've got soul but I'm not a soldier"

That line alone makes me hate the Killers.

I've got ham, but I'm not a hamster.

I cuss, but I'm not a custard.

I've got a phone but I'm not a phoney.

I dont think the Killers understand how the English language works.

You know for the longest time I didn't like that line either. But once I got around to reading the lyrics and interpreting it as the the singer talking about his religion beliefs. I love that lyric. I just read it as him saying he's religious but not really that religious.

I might be biased, The Killers are from Las Vegas, I'm from Vegas almost all of there songs too do something with Las Vegas and some of there videos are even shot here, but I got to say I love this album. It's not Hot Fuss, or Sams Town (my fav) but it is a solid album. I love how each song has it's own style and I appreciate how they weren't afraid to try new things.

My favorite song is "A Dustland Fairytale" such a great story.

I like this theory...

'are we human or are we dancer?' refers to our ongoing existence as puppets on the world's string and begs the question: do we have the tenacity and the potential to break free (cut the cord) and become who we were intended to be or are we merely puppets destined to bend to the will of the world?

Wow... that's pretty deep. I like it.
Who came up with that theory and did the band ever spoke about it?

I keep thinking this thread is some internet game where you put in info about yourself and it will give you the day you die and the age of your killer on that day

Instead, its some lame band
:down
