The Killers - Sam's Town

I haven't heard it yet, but I'm going to give it a listen. I love The Killers, or at least what I've heard from them. "Mr. Brightside" was the first great rock single of the 21st century.

Um no it wasn't.:cmad:

The Killers are a good example of what happens when a band tries to emulate a certain artist on their debut (David Bowie perhaps) to gain an audience. This mostly female audience go bonkers for their antics and the album is a success.

Then, they fall into the Sophmore trap by attempting to gain male fans - a la - heavier sounds. (Springsteen)

It's been done before. . . John Cafferty, Beaver Brown Band anyone?

It's funny, because one of my buddies was joking that the Killers are like the real life version of Rob Lowe's band in St. Elmo's Fire. . .

He was right.:o

i like the path of anger giving way to not being angry so much and then your fans turn on you and then try to be angry again but it just doesn't work so you give up.

I actually liked Hot Fuss more, but this is pretty good. I like the Enterlude, and the Exitlude, and the remix of When You Were Young....the River is Wild is pretty good too :o

A lot of it reminds me of like.....wild west Saloon-ish type music.........with Synth

That's a good thing.

I still think their best song is "All These Things That I've Done".:(

Yeah that is one awesome song.

And of course you liked me for my non-contributing posts, what else?

The music video of "All these things that I've done" might have been even better than the actual song :o

I will not argue with you on that one.

Yes, you were.

Seriously, The Killers are the best band out there in my opinion. Brandon Flowers is a fantastic songwriter, and singer. His lyrics often have this odd, sardonic wit to them that remind me of a young Ray Davies.

I edited that in hopes no one would notice that. You're very fast, my friend, very fast.
