For me the best Joker story is "Going Sane".

In this poll it's difficult.

TMWL is clearly influenced by TKJ but I take it.

TMWL.

Alan Moore can eat my Watchman trade for all I care.

I chose TKJ, although they are both great. I just loved how the Joker acted more in TKJ.

Haven't been able to get ahold of The Man Who Laughs, yet.

The Killing Joke.

They're both great stories, but TKJ is the first time the Joker really crossed the line, by hurting people close to Batman.

Plus, Bolland's art was just gorgeous.

Killing Joke...Man Who Laughs is great, but Alan Moore is a f**king god :o

TMWL is one of the Batman stories there is, but TKJ is miles ahead.

I wish that I could give a complete answer to this thread but I have never read and cannot find the Man Who Laughs. Damn the man and his master plan.

CCon has a photobucket account, or something like it that has TMWL on it, send him a PM and he'll probably give it to ya. I would, but I think I deleted his PM by accident.

TMWL had some good Jokes or puns in it.
I like the Killing Joke but it never made me laugh, so I'm going for TMWL.

I would like the link to this please if possible.

The Man Who Laughs was what I voted for on the poll. I enjoyed it so much more than The Killing Joke. I was excited so much more while reading TMHL unlike TKJ. Both are great Joker stories, but...TMWL was just so much better for me.

I will be incredibly happy if "Nolan and Co." uses a crapload of references from The Man Who Laughs over the The Killing Joke. My reasoning behind this is because in TMHL, they have those panels where Bruce investigates the chemical plant; that will be there subtle and realistic way to explain Joker's bizarre features.

Also...man do I love that note that Joker left on the wall.

I think that many people are simply saying the Killing Joke simply because of Alan Moore's name :o

I like the way TMWL introduced the Joker's origin much better than TKJ. And while the idea in TKJ, of how any man can become crazy in one day, is good...I feel that the events and dialogue and action in TMWL was so much better.

Actually i think most people are voting for TKJ just because they have read it and havent read TMWL.

You are right. The same thing with Arkham Asylum / Gothic and Grant Morrison
No, I love Arkham Asylum because it's awesome.

And Grant Morrison can eat my V For Vendetta hardcover for all I care.

I've read both - there's no competition. THE KILLING JOKE is far superior to THE MAN WHO LAUGHS. Don't get me wrong, THE MAN WHO LAUGHS is fun, but it ultimately lacks the poignancy or skillful execution of THE KILLING JOKE.
