The Killzone Franchise Thread

Just tried my hand at MP for Killzone 3. Didn't go well. From getting killed (on purpose) by my team players to being booted. Don't think I'll be touching that again.

So you're going to give up that quickly? Sounds like you just had some bad luck and some ******* 'teammates', if you can call them that. It really isn't as bad as what you experienced.

As it turns out, I wasn't being betrayed by team members. It was Infiltrators disguising themselves as my teammates.

I feel so ****ing stupid.:o

I play as Infiltrator 100% of the time.
I think I do more brutal kills than gun shot kills.

I didnt get intoo KZ multiplayer when I first played it but loved it the more I played. Its actually quite good. My favorite class is engineer. Love the LMG

I haven't played KZ 3 MP in probably a couple of months. So I got back into it last night, and I didn't realize how much I missed it until I started playing. I absolutely love the MP in KZ 3. If anyone wants to party up tonight, hit me up. My PSN ID is TitansFan76. :woot:

I have to say I'm surprised. I didn't think any posters that posted here still played KZ3 MP(If any) and sold their copies already:csad:. At least that's good news even if its small numbers:o....

Haha, I did get rid of my KZ3. The MP at least was still pretty fun while I had it

Killzone 3 had one of the most beautiful visuals in any game I've seen. I don't see what they could do in the PS4 (this soon) that they can't with the PS3, besides advancing graphically. Also, they'd have to learn about the new technology and start from scratch.

I really hope Killzone 4 comes to my PS3, and soon.

For one they could get it to run at 60fps. The graphics look amazing but they had to settle with 30fps in order to get it like that. Native 1080p on all games is pretty much a given and thats not something currently possible with the current hardware. Visually there may not seem like theres room for significant improvement and I suspect the next gen will focus on refining the tech. I also expect loading times to be signficantly improved for one cohesive experience with RAM being expanded to eliminate slowdowns and frame rate issues when things get hectic onscreen.

I have a feeling that Killzone 4 will be a launch title for PS4 along with Uncharted 4 and a new God of War 4

Well, this certainly is interesting. Killzone 3 MP will be available to everyone for free on the PSN store next week. There is going to be a level cap, but you can unlock the full MP for $14.99.

I wonder if this is a sign of things to come? Will we see more games offer an MP only option in the future? Would you guys/girls be interested in that type of option? How many more questions do I need to ask? That's it.

thats great. While I found Killzone 3 SP to be a disappointment, I loved the MP. I can see myself getting back into that

That good of them. I thihk they would make more money if they made it like Team Fortress 2 sellling vanity items than they would if they just capped it. Saying that though, this obsession with leveling and unlocking stuff makes games super imbalanced so maybe a cap would actually be good for the gameplay. The convluted unlock spamming of +50XP, badges and what-not on Battlefield 3 totally ruined it. It's a not a team game anymore, about unlocking crap. Pretty much every E-sport does away with this for the sake of fairness.

Not really, with the way most of these games are, you rank up regardless of your performance. The imbalances are generally moot and if you go into a game with less equipment than someone else, you'll need to rely on your teammates, making it more of a team game.

This is a cool idea though, I played the KZ3 campaign and hated it so much that i never tried the MP, ill give this a download.

You really should have as MP was solid. I think they focused mostly on that with SP being an afterthought

I don't see how huge imbalances make a better team game. Or a better sense of skill. It's like saying Chess matches are better when some people playing haven't got all the peices. Unlocks by their very nature are self-serving. They exist to give the player a sense of progression and satisfication to reward them whenever humanly possible, even if they are loosing. It's the same formula MMO's use. Even something hugely popular like Call Of Duty is pretty poor on the competitive scene. Blizzard (smartly) kept the unit upgrades and unlocks via XP to the single player part of Starcraft II only.

Personally, I don't mind unlockes as long as it's fair or not super convoluted to the point it's the only reason people are playing. Team Fortress 2 now has this problem as well. People just come onto a server to trade crap than actually play the dam game. You can see from the design of Battlefield 3, they were more interesting in unlocking stuff than focusing on a team game. Most games are like this now, it's the brown smelly ripple effect of Call Of Duty.

Even just looking at this thread here which I clicked on about 40 odd seconds after posting, what are they talking about? team gameplay? No, unlocking crap. Building his character with unlocks. Thats obviously the primary appeal. If you scroll back a few pages, i'd be surprised if you can actually see a single person factoring "team game" into it.

If you are a Plus member, the MP is only $7.50. Really sweet price.

Yeah, I jumped on it. I enjoyed the MP of KZ2 but never bought 3, this is a fine way to get that fix.

Played one match so far, my team lost 0-7, yay! :word: I earned 4 levels in one match though, so that's nice. I played Medic in KZ2 but I remember really liking infiltrator during the beta for 3, gotta figure out what I want to focus on.
