Mods, please delete my other thread "First Killzone 2 review." I made a new thread because I felt it would make more sense as more reviews come in to have a thread with a more relevant title.

I have the OPM UK mag, got it today. I'll post thoughts later.
 
They didn't review. It was a blog from one of the creators who said it was really... really good.
 
Okay some things to pull from the OPM Review

- Its finally a true rival for COD4.

- The action ramps up considerly about the 3rd level

- The last level is kinda of a dissapointment apparently, its more of a "waves of enemies" mode than anything.

- You don't get much of a chance to learn about characters and stuff. They become more "Guy with hat, guy with bandana" than anything else.

- Better than anyone had expected.

Ah, their 2 main complaints aren't really that big of a deal to me. I love a good storyline with good characters, but I don't plan on buying Killzone 2 for a wonderful characterization of the characters (though it certainly wouldn't hurt), I plan on buying to slaughter thousands and thousands of Helghasts in beautiful graphics.

And it looks like I will get my wish.

Wow, that's a lot of praise, especially saying it's a true rival to COD4. Can't say I was all that surprised about the characters or anything, though
 
Another negative was the sniping. There's nothing wrong with the controls or anything, but its just like "Taking on an elephant stampede with an acupuncture needle". Which makes sense I guess.

Well, if everything is in just one thread it would become too difficult to navigate.

Considering a lot of people may be especially interested in how the reviews play out, I think it is deserving of its own thread.

well as we saw in the last review thread, it just morphs into another Killzone 2 discussion thread (which this one will as well) which is redudant bc now there are now at least 3 for the game. Discussing the reviews = discussing the game and it all overlaps. Just me, but I think its easier to have it all in one thread instead of dispersed across several
 
There is another review thread? If you're talking about the 1st one I made, I've requested that one be deleted.

Also, I will be updating the first post as more come in so it won't be completely redundant.
 
What i find weird is a 360 blog talking about the game.
Not that they are saying that it´s good or anything, but to actually talk about it, and post pictures, it doesn´t make sense.
More even saying that it is better than Gear of War 2, which is a 360 game.
It just doesn´t make sense, it´s like the a PS3 blog going about how Halo 3: ODST it´s a kick ass game.

There's nothing fishy about it. Official 360 users buy a PS3, start buying Official Playstation Magazine under the same company, more money for the company.

It's called showing humility or not being bias. You know...honest journalism. These are admiral traits that fanboys lack.

Apparently this game is just that good...
 
Humility is great, but to hype something from your competition is not a smart move.
Sure, it´s a blog and not from Microsoft itself, but still.

I can´t really picture a playstation blog going about how Halo, Gears or other 360 game is amazing and better than a 360 one (in this case, Gears 2).
 
Maybe they honestly respect the game because it's a true step in new directions (technologically speaking)? Or have integrity?

I can't believe you find it that implausible.
 
I also can't wait to play it and see for myself, but for now I'm quite happy i have this reserved.

Integrity?
What does have to do with anything.
Integrity would be if someone asked them what they thought of the game, not because they, out of the blue, thought it would be nice to hype it
It´s a 360 blog, it is there to talk about the 360, not the hype the competition, that´s the part that doesn´t make sense.

But there are a lot of more stuff that doesn´t make sense...

First of all let me tell you, i do want this game to succeed.
It´s good for the gamers and it´s good for the PS3, and i will get a PS3 no matter how this turns out, so i have no reason for wanting it to fail.
Technically is game is superb, it looks like CGI, but even so...
I do believe that is going to be a good game, no questions there, i just can´t picture it the masterpiece everyone keeps saying.
It al started with a lie, Sony lied to everyone by on the E3 2005 by releasing a CGI and saying that it was actual gameplay.
Now, Sony as said that the online review embargo ends on early February and not before, but Megagamer already submitted their review, and, guess what, it´s amazing.
3 reviews, three amazing ones.
How can a game developer that made a medicre game (Killzone) and a crappy one (ShellShock), end on making the "best game ever"?
If you read again the megamers review, that´s is totally biased and not even objective, that´s just a guy mas******ing to a game.
What is the review that ends with: "To put it short, this game makes Gears of War 2 look like a high school attempt at gaming and that is a HUGE compliment!"?
What is the point of comparing to another game that, guess what, is from the competition?
Gears 2 is Gears 2, Killzone 2 is Killzone 2, to say that this game is better than the other is just stupid.
Even the 360blog went to compare it to the upcoming ODST, that´s just stupid by saying that it has a lot to live up for.
That´s just stupid, that just puts a lot of pressure on the game´s shoulders, because everyone will look at ODST as if it is better than KZ2 or not, that´s a marketing stunt to put pressure on your competition.
It´s the second time KZ2 gets compared to either GoW2 or Halo.
Sony needs this game as we need air to breed, they need it to sell consoles, they need it to get closer to the 360, they need it to almost everything because Little Big Planet wasn´t it (was anyone surprissed? LBP is not a console seller, is more of a game to sell progressivly, not everyone want to create levels).
In July 2000, a marketing executive working for Sony Corporation created a fictitious film critic, David Manning, who gave consistently good reviews for releases from Sony subsidiary Columbia Pictures, which generally received poor reviews amongst real critics. Is Sony pulling that stunt again?

All in all, i hope this game is amazing, i really hope it´s everything everyone keeps saying, but i´ll wait for multi-platform reviewers

Yes, it´s a blog with only one page, yes it talks about installation, when there seems to be none (did they changed their minds?), but there is actually a link to a GTA4 review, and from what i´ve read in some forums, it was one of the first reviews for GTA and it got it right.
So....believe what you want.
