The Machine won't let the Wrestling Thread Win

The only person in the WWE right now who should even conceivably end the Streak is CM Punk.

Unfortunately, how believable that'd be after Punk already fought him and lost is questionable.

However, I could see the storyline for it playing out similar to Triple H/Taker III, where Hunter said no.

Taker would challenge Punk, and Punk would decline, citing he has nothing to prove and that he's already faced him. Albeit, a loss. And like HHH did, Punk would see it as Taker just looking for an end. Though this time, that would be accurate.

There's no reason for Punk to end the streak, he's already over. If Punk is in consideration, they might as well go with Randy Orton or John Cena.

Edge was kinda the last conceivable guy who really could have ended the streak. Punk would be a close second.

At this point, whether someone is over or not doesn't matter.

Mainly because a name star ending it will be more believable than a non name star, or some one who still needs the rub, coming in and ending it.

For instance.

Triple H, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, CM Punk, Mark Henry, Kevin Nash, and a host of other big superstars couldn't end it....... but a Seth Rollins, or Roman Reigns, or a Sheamus can?

Doesn't work.

And that's not take away from them, or even those who have tried and lost. But lets get real....... It took Triple H three tries, and Shawn Michaels two, to even come close.

Having some fresh face come in and end it first time out, perhaps dominantly, would just be wrong at this point.

Maybe 10 years ago, when the Streak wasn't so big (like they almost did with Orton), but its too big for that now.

lol the cyclical "ending the streak" discussion has returned.

Guys, the streak won't end. It just won't happen.

Pretty much. It's the only valuable thing WWE has left.

Oh the streak will end, it will happen when Taker goes from Wrestling once a year to zero times a year. Not sure if they'll have someone end it or he'll just stop competing at all.

But that's a more interesting story, Undertaker underestimating the young guy because he's not established. I can see why people think a big star needs to end the streak, and I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's not as interesting as a talented guy who isn't expected to win at all doing it. Maybe I'm crazy but to me an established guy winning it won't have much an impact on me. I've gotten to the point where if someone like Cena or Orton does it, then I won't be angry at all, but it won't feel as great as seeing a guy get put on the map.

Agreed. That's why I really didn't see the need of either HBK or HHH ending The Streak because they pretty much have done it all.

I'll give Austin Vs. Punk one more year before I give up. Just wish Stone Cold didn't BS for so long. Could've had the fu**ing match by now.

It's not going to happen. Jericho's first podcast was with Austin, and Austin discussed the issues making a comeback match.

It took years for him to get the business out of his system. He said it's like going through withdrawal. For him to hype himself up for one more match...what happens after the match ends? Austin would have to go through withdrawal all over again. Plus he's happy with where he is in life right now.

Roman reigns winning would be sad because he's not that good if ask me. I'd Be ok with Shemus, Big E, Brian for the young Guys and if its a legend then The Rock ,Lesner, Batista or even BiG Show would be ok. Not Cena or Orton for they have every big achievement

It's been proven that wrestlers don't need to end the streak in order to get a "rub" from wrestling the Undertaker at WrestleMania.

In fact, that's what his matches seem to be these days; potential MOTY candidates which showcases both talents.

The streak is now simply a marketing thing.

I was thinking about the Bryan/Wyatt Family angle and how it could be similar to HBK and JBL's angle from late 2008/early 2009. People were afraid the blow off would be at Mania and we wouldn't get HBK/Taker, but instead with got it at the February PPV. Here's hoping the same thing happens here.

- The Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently reported that Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena was the current plan for the main event at WrestleMania XXX but that’s not the case.

Word going around WWE is that Cena vs. Wyatt was not something discussed recently. The idea of doing that match came up over a month ago with the idea that Wyatt could win the Royal Rumble and challenge Cena for the title at WrestleMania XXX. However, this storyline was mapped out before WWE made the decision to unify the titles at TLC, before they made Randy Orton champion and before the announcement of Batista’s return.

There’s now a feeling within WWE that Batista will win the Rumble and challenge whoever has the title at WrestleMania XXX. This doesn’t mean that we won’t see Wyatt vs. Cena down the line, but most likely not at WrestleMania XXX as WWE has other plans for Cena at the big event.

- WWE had Aksana get the pin on Monday’s RAW to build to a singles match with Nikki Bella on SmackDown. Besides a dark match win over Cameron and a NXT win over Emma, Aksana had no televised wins in 2013 besides this past Monday.

They had a great match last year but I don't want to see another repeat. Also CM Punk had the longest reigning streak in recent times and really doesn't need the win. I'd rather they give the accomplishment to someone who hasn't had a major moment. Then again it has to be a star that can take it and run with it . Punk would of been a good choice , but I think that moment has passed. However he lost to the Rock, Undertaker, and Brock last year so he should have a big win at Mania . I can see the argument for Punk but he's in the same false of Orton and Cena where winning the streak would just be another milestone.

I said the same thing Monday and that's why I'm not worried about this angle yet. This could just be a way to build the Wyatt clan for Mania and give Bryan an angle

I will say as Aksana's only fan in this thread, I'm glad she finally got a televised win/ She always takes the pin even in all those tag matches :/.

Punk or Daniel Bryan should be winning the rumble. I don't understand this thing with Batista. I thought his previous matches with Orton weren't that good. Rock winning made more sense because he's a bigger star. I'm not trying to knock Batista , it just doesn't make sense to me.

I'd like to pin her :hrt:

I like Aksana, but I can't say I'm a fan because we've seen so little of what she can do. For some reason, if her technical abilities are up to snuff (again, I haven't seen a lot of her to be able to judge) I get a vibe from her that she'd be a good trainer for incoming female talent when her in-ring career winds down. Kind of like what Ivory or Molly Holly were.

Aksana is gorgeous but I can't say I'm a fan because she doesn't get enough TV time to showcase herself, even on NXT.

I'd nearly go as far to say that the Woman's division needs to be parked for a year or two and focus on getting proper training and talent in.

They already have that, they're called NXT and Sara Del Rey. Watch Paige, Emma, Bayley, Summer Rae, and Sasha Bank on NXT.

It sounds as though they're leaning towards Batista vs. Brock for the title at Mania at the moment.
