The Machine won't let the Wrestling Thread Win

An Evil Taker vs. Bryan would also create additional dramatic tension that Taker would lose. I wouldn't want him to, but the streak matches are increasingly difficult to build dramatic tension around.

That is another added benefit and I hadn't really thought of it that way.

While I'm thinking about it, I just wanted to reiterate that it's really nice that there's a place on the internet that enjoys discussing pro wrestling in a positive manner. I go to some wrestling forums and the overwhelming negativity just sucks all of the fun out of things for me sometimes... Thanks to everyone here!

I find it very interesting that the Rock has been rumored to play John Stewart, a Black superhero when in all of his years in the WWE, he's never been booked as a black superstar except for maybe his stint in the Nation of Domination.

Hell, he debuted as Rocky Maivia, displaying his mother's side of the family.

Yeah, I feel that WWF/E generally played up that heritage (which makes sense, considered how huge that family is in wrestling history).

The Rock's ethnicity/race really does work well in his favor when getting roles and popularity in Hollywood and with general audiences. Like, he is racially "ambiguous" enough that he can play a wide variety of characters (not that each race is stuck playing one character type, but I mean he can play roles that were specifically written/cast for a certain race, or can be fan cast as Black Adam, Luke Cage, Ares, Lobo, etc), and he can play the love interest of anyone if they want to cast him that way (I remember when Hitch came out, they cast Eva Mendes as the love interest partially because they thought casting a black woman would scare off white people because they would think it's a "black movie"... sad but true, even though I do love me some Eva Mendes).

How was Hitch considered a black movie when one of the male leads was a fat white guy?

Tyler Breeze is the perfect partner for Ryback. Breeze is technically sound so he can play the Hitman to Ryback's Anvil, anf he's also got attitude and personality.

Not a bad idea, but I'd argue that Ryback has miles to go before he can be compared to Anvil. Anvil could cut a promo with his eyes closed and his hands tied behind his back, and oddly enough was the main personality hook in the Hart Foundation. Whereas Ryback still has that scared, angry baby look to him every time he steps in front of a camera. If Breeze has both the technical skills and personality, then he becomes both the Hitman and the Anvil of his team, and it further emphasizes how inconsequential Ryback has become.

Ryback also has allegations that he may not be clean....so to speak.

Yes indeed,I can still imagine some fools in the DC and Marvel CBM threads though posting something like"John Stewart/Luke Cage aren't Samoan or Samoan looking and so this would be the worst casting ever"

I don't know why the studio was scared, but I remember seeing a few places way back when that they decided to go with a Hispanic actress because they were afraid that people would think it was being marketed as a "black" movie. People are dumb, both audiences and studio execs, so I wouldn't put the idea past either group.

It actually has happened. A few posters basically implied Rock looks more Samoan than Black so, therefor, is unfit for John Stewart.

Well if they did cast a black actress, just put the fat white guy, Kevin James on the film posters instead of the black actress....

It seems like the Hollywood studios are run by Michael Hayes.

So that's why Kevin James continues to get the same ****** roles...

Yeah, I see your point. I feel like he needs to have someone else be awesome until he comes in to do his badass meathook though.

Since the Bryan/Wyatt Family angle was so hotly debated, I figured I'd post Mick Foley's thoughts here too:

Is A Daniel Bryan Turn Best For Business?

For the record, I am a huge Daniel Bryan fan. I thought a Bryan win would have been best for business at "Hell in a Cell". I think Bryan winning the Royal Rumble, and the potential of 75,000 strong in New Orleans chanting "YES" at the conclusion of WrestleMania – providing an image for the ages….and sending people home HAPPY – will be what's best for business in April. But could this recent turn of events with Bray Wyatt be what's best for business now?

It could be.

Personally, I see the WWE World heavyweight Championship in Daniel Bryan's future. But in the meantime, he has a chance to do something almost as important and prestigious; he has a chance to help MAKE somebody.

Last month, I mentioned that Bray Wyatt (yeah, I know I called him Way Bryatt on the TLC PPV) had that "IT" thing – those tricky two letters that can spell the difference betweeen a talented performer and a star, between an asset to the company and a main eventer. But even a performer with that "IT" factor needs something else to get them there – a bridge of sorts to get lead them on that next step of the journey. Every performer in our business needs that intense personal issue, that rivalry, that FEUD that truly puts them on the main event map.

I was lucky enough to have had those feuds at the right times along the way. I was lucky enough to have had those feuds when I needed them – with Sting in 1991, and with The Undertaker in 1996 – the right opponents at the right time to put me on the main event map. I like to think that I was that right person at the right time for a few people over the years. It's an honor I take great pride in.

Daniel Bryan has that chance. It's not easy. But do I think he's up to it? YES, YES, YES!

How can Bryan make somebody when he himself isn't a somebody yet?

not sure if this was posted, interested to see what the advisory note says

F4Wonline.com reports that WWE has sent out a memo stating that Chris Benoit footage will be allowed on its new Network broadcasts. There will be an advisory played before every show he appears on.
WWE is expected to announce the Network in Las Vegas next week.

So there's talk of splitting Roman Reigns from the Shield and replacing him with New Batista... :hehe:

Reading the Foley comments really makes me sad that we most likely won't be seeing Daniel Bryan standing triumphant to close the show with those 75,000 people chanting "YES!" in unison.

That's the one big hole in Foley's reasoning. It can argued that Bryan is somebody, or that we at least think he's somebody, but it doesnt matter unless the WWE confirms it. He spent the fall being the Authority's whipping boy, and what few victories he had were pulled out from under him before he knew it.

By comparison, Foley got screwed over by the corporation lots of times in late 98/early 99. The difference is Foley got the upper hand once in a while and had the bad guys at a disadvantage. Foley got to have his "yo adrien" moments and victory laps.

- For what it's worth, it's said that Triple H vs. CM Punk for WrestleMania XXX is a lock. Plans are to do another "Summer of Punk" style program, possibly leading to Punk vs. Batista at SummerSlam.

- The feeling is that when Roman Reigns turns babyface and splits from The Shield, likely in February, that he will be replaced with a new member in the group. Mason Ryan's name has been discussed.

This video makes me want to see AJ Styles face off with Taker at WrestleMania. Awesome mesh of themes.

I guess in three weeks we will all have a better idea of how this is all going to play out.

MAYBE...

Bryan and the Wyatt Family systematically work their way through the Rumble (maybe the combined might of two or more members of the group is what it takes to get rid of Reigns). Bryan, Wyatt, and Batista are the last three in the ring, and Bryan and Wyatt manage to take out Batista together. Wyatt then turns to his "disciple" Daniel Bryan and expects him to eliminate himself.

"NO! NO! NO!"

Bryan attacks Wyatt and wins the Rumble. The next night, Bryan just says he did what he had to do to make sure he was going to have his rightful place at WM. The Wyatts come out and they brawl. Bryan vs Wyatt at EC. Bryan wins.

Bryan goes on to main event WM against Orton while Cena takes on Undertaker and we get a Beast vs Animal match in Lesnar vs Batista.
