The Machine won't let the Wrestling Thread Win

I'm sorry, I can't that excited over Batista returning. It badly timed, and I don't see how he fits in with the rest of the roster. Unless his return is going to help get some guys over--and it won't--it will just detract from guys like CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, and may take away opportunities for any rising stars.

Batista is only returning to promote his big Marvel movie, although it isn't out until August.

Okay, I'm just catching up with LAST week's Raw, and haven't watched tonight's Raw, and I've been away for awhile...

But what in the ever living hell is going on with Raw???

We've got a Bad Santa v. Good Santa Match?

A Christmas On A Pole Match?

Big E Langston, CM Punk, and John Cena are the Wonder Twins?

What?? Why??

The last time I watched, Raw was in the middle of one of the best angles they had in awhile. Orton was a great "Corporate" champion, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were great authority heels, Daniel Bryan was the most over guy on the face of the planet.

What the **** happened???

Out of all the episodes since then why would you chose to watch the filler Christmas episode?

He's supposedly returning full time for two years as a last run..so no he's not coming back just to promote it and he'll be gone in the summer to promote it all over anyway

I personally believe Bryan has been in the main event picture this whole time. The guy just had 40 minutes of T.v
time with no MNF games. He's usually closing the show out most nights anyway. He's proved that he is becoming bigger then the title, this is more about bringing the Wyatt's (Shovel's Pet Project) to the next level.

Unless they book Bryan someday like Krispin Wah, just a wrestling machine that'll kick your teeth in, he'll always be viewed by the E as a short term title holder and a long term title chaser.

Well technically I "came back" with the episode before the filler Christmas episode. That one wasn't very impressive either.

He's not going to see the duration of the two years if his Marvel film is a huge hit and a sequel is announced and he has to shoot the film in a year.

He's not gonna see the duration because his muscles are going to tear as soon as he runs to the ring.

Bryan deserves a big match at WrestleMania. Plain and simple. Bray vs Bryan in the middle of the card ain't gonna cut it.

One major injury and it may affect whatever plans Marvel has for him as Drax (whether it be Guardians 2 or a Guardians/Avengers team up in Avengers 3). It may lead to Marvel recasting him in that case, which would suck because Big Dave fought hard to get the role.

The WWE is going to protect him. They won't put him the chamber match at Elimination Chamber and they will not put him in any Hardcore matches. In fact I could easily see the WWE putting him in a bunch of tag matches just to protect him.

Or so Vince thinks. Big E and Reigns are still green and it'll take time to build them. And I'm curious to how much ring rust Big Dave has to knock off.

But all in all, his big man fetish is going to run crazy in 2014 from the looks of it.
Now I get what Trips means about 2014 being 'Big'. At first I thought he was just referring to his Hooter. :o

You're right. We can look forward to more segment hijackings from the crowds. It should be obvious that it's not about the towns they're in. The people love Daniel Bryan. WWE doesn't seem to care.

Bryan's taking all of this in stride, I'm guessing. He didn't think he'd make it this far, so all of this stop and starting and sabotage probably doesn't phase.
Agreed. It's not going to change. I agree, I admire how Bryan has so far taken this all in his stride and has not allowed it to get the best of him.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 wouldn't be release until the end of Phase II or until Phase III of the MCU..Which filming for it would not be within a year or two after Guardians's first release in the summer

Although..I guess he may be appearing in Avengers 2 in 2015

Still though, the WWE is going to protect him. In that case it would not at all surprise me if Dave is in a tag match with an up and comer against The Shield or the Wyatt Family.

So, let's see:

  • Bryan wins the title at SummerSlam, but gets screwed by Triple H.
  • Some are angry, others say "be patient, give it a chance."
  • Bryan win the title at Night Of Champions again, but is stripped of it the next night.
  • Some people who had been praising Orton's recent work begin to turn on him.
  • Bryan is screwed by Big Show at Battleground.
  • Cena returns early from injury and is granted a World title match.
  • HBK screws Bryan at Hell In A Cell...the same night Cena wins the world championship.
  • Big Show, having hijacked Bryan's catchphrase, also gets the WWE title shot instead of Bryan at Survivor Series.
  • Bryan and Punk are seemingly pushed down the card by being placed into feuds with the Shield and the Wyatts, while Orton unifies the championships at TLC.
  • Dozens of rumors begin to surface about the upper card for Wrestlemania 30...none of which feature Bryan in the main event.
  • Batista is announced as returning January 20th.
  • Bryan ends the year by "surrendering" to Bray Wyatt (or, if you believe as I do, infiltrating the Wyatt Family to attempt to destroy it from the inside out).

It's amazing. It seems like just a few weeks ago (in actuality, it was a few months ago) that WWE was almost universally praised in this thread for making all of the right moves, starting to push the right people, putting on great Raws, etc. Now, the overwhelming sentiment appears to be that the company has completely dropped the ball, losing any goodwill they had built up over the summer. And almost all of the frustration is centered around one man: Daniel Bryan. What a difference a few months can make!

At Mania?

At Mania?

Yes. I know he's a big star, but he's also a movie guy now. How much heat is the WWE going to have if he's severely injured in a major match? Especially if he has to go promote Guardians in crutches.

He needs to be protected by WWE.

What's sad is that Punk and Bryan that got me back into Wrestling in late 2012 (with Punk's great promos and Bryan's anger management scenes) after taking years off because I thought it was getting too stale back in early 08, along with AJ who could get pushed aside any minute now for the f**king Bellas who are the most undeserving divas on the roster.

I'm not optimistic about the direction they're taking because they've given us no reason to be optimistic. They get our hopes up and crush them. If the Royal Rumble ends up being crap, I don't have much of a reason to stick around watching.

And this is why I've begun to hate these types of returns as of late.

The Rock was pretty much given free reigns to do what he wanted and when he wanted with his return; he was basically paid to just talk his usual promo (some more entertaining than others) and just wrestle 3 matches, while winning the WWE championship and being the main event for Wrestlemania.

I fee bad for all of the guys in the backstage who have worked their asses off through injuries, bad booking, and backstage politics and are still given the short stick just because they aren't either movie stars, friends with Triple H, or don't have the right "big guy" image.

Well I hope your right,I like Batista but I sure don't want him headlining this Mania for the title and I don't even know good opponents for him besides putting over guys like Daniel/Big E and Reigns.

IF any part timer is headlining Mania for the title then I personally hope it's Brock and especially IF it's against someone like Punk in a rematch with Punk going over clean to close WM XXX as new WWE champion

WWE LOGIC:

The Wyatt's have beards, Daniel Bryan has a beard, beards are semi popular right now....

Wyatt's + Bryan + Beards= lets put these guys in a stable.

WOMP WOMP :(

It's battered wife syndrome, at some point you just lose hope that anything will change. I've been watching a long time and I've never seen a guy get as over as Bryan and then deliberately have the rug pulled out from under him. If you look back any other guy that has gotten that hot gets the full force of the promotion put behind him, they don't stall and hesitate and constantly sidestep.

Wrestlemania is coming up and everybody wants in for a piece of the pie which means guys who have carrying the company this whole time have to take a step back just to get some of the crust. Something Punk practically cried foul about almost two years ago.

Unfortunately, in Bryan's case, WWE gave him a chance at redemption and all his supporters weren't there. He didn't draw the numbers they wanted for SummerSlam (because almost everybody was illegal streaming it I bet) and Vince lost faith in him. Not Bryan's fault, but shame on his fanbase for not coming through for him on ordering when he needed it the most.

So when you got proven draws like Lesnar and Batista coming back. In a way, I can't blame WWE for playing it safe. Best for business unfortunately.
