The Magneto Chess Scene....

What would've been cool was if he were playing chess with a cured Mystique in jail and he wins and as he says 'Checkmate' he drops the King with his powers and both he and Mystique smile at each other(in an evil way,lol)!

After what happened between mystique and magneto I highly doubt she would return to him. Think about it, he left her to even less then himself at the end of the movie, ousted from her beliefs, powerless, friendless, going to jail afterward, and naked. NAKED! and she took the bullet for him

I think the version of the film at my theatre was cut differently b/c the scene cut to the credits just as the chess piece moved so no one really took notice of what had happened!

Nah...my theatre's print had the same version of the scene, and I saw the movie 3 times already, and everytime...people always had a reaction to that. (Cheering, gasps, etc.)

My first viewing of the movie i didn't even see the chess piece move. I was really thinking "Woah what a cliffhanger." We were seated on the right most corner of the theatre in the front. And then when i went home my bro (who went to another screening) mentioned that the chess piece move. I thought he was full of *****. i come here and everyone mentions that Magneto recovers from the cure. you can just imagine my confusion.

Of course at my second viewing i had to look at that scene very carefully (and we planned ahead so we would get good seats.)

I have to go see this movie again, take it all in lol Everything moved so fast. I barely saw the piece move.

It was sad that he was now just this old man sitting in a park playing chess, alone. Makes you understand and feel for the character a bit more.

I just hope they don't bring him back in part 4. Three movies with the same villain is enough, let's get into some other story lines.

i think with the magneto prequel we won't be seeing him the in the inevitable x4...

If they ever do X4, I would love the next one to be about Apocalypse, Thats when the Brotherhood and the X-Men join together to fight him as well as his 4 horsemen. So Magneto has to somehow get his powers back.

Him just sitting in the park like an old man reminded me of Ultimate X men. When Xavier altered his mind to think he was just a friendly old person who played with kids in the park.

it was also a nice homage to the first movie, especially since Xaviers seat was now empty. I like all the chess analogies and love the fact that neither Mckellen nor Stewart knew how to play chess before X men.

I loved that scene, they make you pity him and then slam, have no worries he will raise again

Was I the only one hoping Mystique/Raven was going to appear during that scene? As I watched I thought for sure I was going to hear Rebecca's voice and then I shot of her approaching the table or something.

She should've had a snappy comeback of some sorts about him being human too. Then they play chess.

He wasn't. He was playing Charles, who told him to try his powers.
