We've seen the Mark I, we've seen the Mark III. What's the deal with the Mark II? IS there a Mark II? Any thoughts on what it will look like, or how much screentime it will have?

In the comic-con audio interview with Robert Downey Jr he says (and I'm paraphrasing the hell out of him now):
It's just an earlier version of the Mark II with less color, and while still awesome, not quite as awesome as the Mark III
.

I recall Downey mentioning in an interview that it looks like a big, ugly, unpainted version of the Mark III.

I have my suspicions, but I'm thinking that they tied this into the origin of the Iron Monger being an old stolen iron Man suit.

Good catch on the possible Iron Monger origin.
It'd have to be at least very close to being as advanced as the Mark III in order for the Iron Monger to feel like a proper threat though.

I checked it up, he says:

"The mark II... which is essentially a slightly less cool, and unpainted Mark III".

I couldn't make out what the question was though... they could be asking about that actual picture (seen above) from the video

Ah, gotcha. Cool.

I wonder if by unpainted, it'll be gold colored. A nice nod to Iron Man's second suit.

This is terribly off topic, but I always wondered about the Kill Bill Superman reference in your sig. The only time CK was bumbling was in the Donner films. In teh comics, TV, and all the animated incarnations, Clark was never a bumbling fool. He was a good reporter and a stand up guy. That whole speech in Kill Bill Volume 2 was rediculous. He IS Clark Kent. He came to Earth as a baby and was raised as human by humans. He was ClarkKent to his parents and hilmself. He's only Supeman when he's saving someone or something. I always thought Bill's speech was just stupid. Obviously, Tarrentino's only exposure to Superman is from the Donnerverse films. Much like Singer.

Anyway, back to the topic. Sorry about that.

Maybe it'll be just silver to look more like a War Machine suit?

Tarantino essentially lifted that whole speech from a 1965 essay from Jules Pfeiffer's The Great Comic Book Heroes. Look it up.
Call it what you want--homage, theft or plagiarism-- but Quentin didn't make that original observation.

Bingo! I think they flat out asks what does the Mark II suit look like.

The quote refers to the Pre-Crisis Clark Kent, who was bumbling and meek, with the same blue suit, white shirt, red tie and fedora. Well, at least up until the mid 1960's. Things started to change then, especially in the 70's when Clark went from the Daily Planet to WGBS.

The Clark Kent you speak of (who is, like you, the preference) is the Post-Crisis Byrne-Era Clark Kent, who had a bit more of a backbone, as seen when he gets the exclusive story on Superman before Lois Lane.

So, the quote does hold some truth pertaining to a certain time period.

I see. I appreciate your explanation. I didn't realize he was bumbling and meek back in the day.

I still don't like Bill's theory on Superman/Clark Kent. I see him as Clark Kent, farm boy and reporter who's secret identity is Supeman. Not the other way around, since he was raised from birth on Earth by humans and blends in with us. Anyway, just how I see it.

I can see your point. That speech would have been more accurate if he had been talking about Thor/Donald Blake since Thor is who he really is and has always been and Blake is just a facade.

Oh yeah, I completely agree with you. The modern day Superman is leagues ahead of his Silver Age version (who was, at his peak, able to MOVE PLANETS). I always thought John Byrne really nailed the character.

Still, I'm a big fan of the Silver Age...and I just love the sound of that quote.
