Everyone knows about Doctor Doom's hold over Latveria, but his costume never really shows that. This redesign changes this. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/16375511@N00/2269666861/)

This new look for the fantastic four, with their track/jumpsuits gives them a rather athletic feel. (http://stephenscomicgenius.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/project-rooftop-presents-fantastic-four_3322.html)

And last of all, a more alien looking Silver Surfer. (http://artofant.deviantart.com/art/Silver-Surfer-redesign-69531994)

Silver_Surfer__redesign_by_artofant.jpg

I actually dig the Silver Surfer one alot :applaud The main problem with dehumanizing the Surfer and Namor and too a degree Doc Oc is that it keeps the GA from identifying with that character and therefore pretty much decreasing it's Fan-base. All the most popular characters are popular generally because we can identify with something in that character and cheer for him or her (ie Cap, Batman, Spider-Man, etc.). The more you make them inhuman the less that happens unfortunately :csad:.

PS (Did Doc Oc brown stain come from his clothes dragging on the floor or did he miss his bathroom break :oldrazz:)

Really? Have you seen the weird ass characters people play with in video-games lately? How about anime characters that don't even apply to the laws of physics? They have huge fan-bases nonetheless.

I think the real problem is companies and artists treating their audience like morons, always aiming lower to try and please everyone, downgrading their ideas to pr-digested, stale concepts. I think people (of all kinds) are ready to enjoy weirder concepts (much weirder then the ones above which are quite conservative if you ask me).

PS: General audience doesn't exist, it is another invention set to treat people like ant colonies. Like racism, sexism just another tool of segregation.

Yeah you have no real clue what the term ''General Audience'' really means, do you?

Weird monsters in games have "niche" fan bases at the most. I would probably say the most popular video game franchise Resident Evil still has an attractive female as the main character of the line up. People do not buy the games for the monsters as much as the regular hero characters that lead in these games, the monsters come and go.

Also the term "General Audience" refers to a demographic that people who invest their money into these ventures use to determine if they will see a return on their investment. Comics, games, movies do not create themselves out of fairy dust. You may not agree with this process due to artistic views but the money people are usually not artists. The actual idea of most people being able to self identify with fictional characters is not an artistic issue as much as a psychological issue. Goto most churches and high-school lunch tables and you will notice most people sit with people that they share the most things with.

I always thought the Fantastic Four uniforms should keep to the specialized lab suits instead of sporty uniforms.

Niches grow... Wolverine cough cough
You know what, you convinced me, there IS a general audience willing to pay some money guy to tell an artist what they can or cannot understand. Toddlers identify with Barney, the more abstract the representation the more we can identify with it (that's psychological too) everyone identifies with this: :yay:.

anyways, i personally would appreciate a depth in comics of all kinds, something that should extend to their designs.

PS: this was the exact discussion H.R. Giger had with Cameron just so he would put no eyes on his creation: the now hyper icon Alien.

Again I said "weird monsters" have a niche fan at the most, Wolvie is not a "weird monster" he can easily be identified with a majority of people. Alot of people have a dangerous dark-side that they try not to unleash, ask the nearest alcoholic.

Again star of Alien movies was Sigourney Weaver not Alien. Alien tried its own movie sorta with the Predators and both AVPs were given 22/13 tomato scores, while Sigourney goes off and stars in biggest film ever Avatar, I guess hyper alien icons aren't what they used to be.

BTW comparing toddler psychological make-ups to adult ones is just silly unless you think sitting in poop is cool then well then ... uh... I guess.

FF seem to change their uniforms alot more than the average hero but I like that. I think I will always keep an open mind as long as they never go power pack :P

Hey thanks for including my piece ^^^. It's my entry into the Fantastic Four Redesign contest. Wanted to go with a more "Adventure" style look since they're explorers more than superheroes.

ant_man_movie_costume_by_artistneedham-d5b5hai.jpg

This quick sketch is what I could see the Ant Man movie costume looking like. Similar to the previous Avenger movie characters' costumes, like Captain America or Hawkeye, Ant Man's costume is based somewhat on the Ultimate costume but also uses the original costume. The goal with this design would be to make his costume something that looks like the comic version, but also something that looks like it could work in the real world, and something that would fit in with the Avengers movie when they are all in a group shot.

P:R Redesign: Toks Solarin’s X-Men!

redesign__x_men_by_toks_s-d50ujpj.jpg

Cyclops:
When ever I think of Cyclops I always think of Jim Lee’s version so the current version looks weird to me, it’s not bad it just doesn’t feel
like cyclops to me. This is what came out when I set about designing my own version of the x-men team leader. Scott seems like the type
of guy that would take his role as leader very seriously. The X-Men find themselves fighting for their lives almost daily and as a result I
think Scott would study military tactics and deployment and so I made his uniform reflect that. I tried to stick to the blue and yellow colour
scheme where I could, I gave him a flak jacket providing protection for his vital organs and made his suit a bit more protection based in
general. I gave him a utility belt of sorts as the X teams are often deployed all over the world and the belt gives him the ability to carry
medicine, food, water, communications, tracking devices and many more helpful items, which would prove indispensable on missions.
Marvel Girl:
Jean is the communications specialists. Linking the teams minds allows for tactics and intel to be shared instantaneously which gives
them a huge tactical advantage in battle. The ability to control minds comes in handy when extracting information from an enemy
combatant and the telekinesis is a great offensive weapon. (on a side note, Jean carries steel ball bearings with her so if there is nothing
else she can use in battle she can project them like bullets.)
Beast:
Hank is the Tech officer on the team and with an IQ off the charts there isn’t much he can’t understand or build. He’s also the team
member that is most suited to stealth missions. With his augmented abilities (which came at a cost.) there isn’t a place on earth Beast
can’t infiltrate. Violence doesn’t come naturally to Hank, but he believes in the x-mens cause and is fully prepared to defend it. Beast will
never start a fight but you can be certain he will finish it.
Iceman:
Bobby Drake is the powerhouse of the team. With almost limitless power at his command Iceman is able to fight in many different ways
but his favorite is as a giant ice golem, which enables him to go toe to toe with some of the most powerful beings on the planet.
Angel:
He’s a recon/surveillance specialist and sniper. Warren didn’t like his role in the team when first assigned to him, especially when Scott
explained to him that with out learning these skills he was useless to the team. ‘What use is a guy that can fly in a fire fight, you’re not
super fast so if you attempted to swoop down and attack some one they would see you a mile off and have plenty of time to shoot you out
of the sky, but at as a long distance fighter and the real time intel you can provide us on the ground you would be invaluable to the team’.
However once Angel threw him self into training he excelled at every thing and as a result became an indispensable part of Scott’s team.
Hank equipped Angel with everything he could need in his role. The head gear provides Angel and the team with Telescopic, night , and
thermal visions. enhanced audio and video recording and a multitude of tracking options. The mask can also provide Warren with air if he
needs to fly really high to avoid detection. The rifle has stun, kill and explosive options.

Ice Man reminds me of Armor, I love those P:R designs

Sweet Work on Silver Surfer and Fantastic Four redesigns, also liking that Red Skull.

Wow, that X-men stuff is awesome. I'd love some of that to be official! He even explains the pouches! :)

And it's comfortable too...
I'm kidding, it's amazing, really. Nothing beats fantasy art!

I didn't draw this, of course -- it's from Thor v2 #61 (iirc). I did, however, apply my Photoshop skills so that we could clearly experience the entire ensemble.

I LOVED this outfit, and was sad indeed that it existed for merely 3 pages!
