I have a lot of thoughts about this movie but a lot of them are not complete because it left me confused on several points. I'd definitely need to rewatch a few more times to fully wrap my head around some stuff. But I will say I enjoyed how romantic it was. The Neo/Trinity romance never really landed all that well for me, but I was all about it here.

Count me as another that prefers Revolutions to Reloaded. I love that the ending isn't overly safe, yes the good guys win but it comes at great cost. It's also the most emotional of all 3 movies.

Pleasantly surprised at the RT rating for Resurrections, though I would have been seeing it anyway.

NPH was a delight here everything else still pondering but in light of reading Fishburne saying hevwould have loved to have come back him not being in this was distracting especially since his image was all over the backgrounds

The action scenes could have been shot and edited a bit better, but other than that I love this film. Its a great love letter to Neo and Trinity, their legacy, and the heroes of the trilogy.

Gonna watch this tonight. I like the original trilogy, seen them several times, but I don't consider myself a hardcore fan. Haven't even seen the Animatrix and all those tangential storylines. So I'm ok if Resurrections isn't downright amazing. As long as it's good, I'm fine.

Just watched it on HBO Max. I was unsure of how I would feel because of the reviews, and I kinda lowered my expectations because of that, so going in I was hoping to just have an okay time. I have to say, after watching, The Matrix is BACK! I loved this movie. I have to rewatch it a few more times to really settle on how I feel overall, but as of right now i eaither love or borderline loved this movie. The cinematography is gorgeous, and the meta feel to it was very welcome, in my opinion. I can get why it wouldn't be for others, but yes. Also, I knew the action wasn't gonna be as intricate as the other movies, but with that mind, I enjoyed what there was here. All the actors did a fantastic job, and I really want to see more of Jessica Henwicks Bugs. She was a great addition, as i expected her to be.

Reeves and Moss both return to their roles in great fashion, and their chemistry together is easily one of my favorite things about the movie. It is their story, and that is the beating heart of it all. it's hard to talk about without really going into spoilers, but I have to say this is one of my favorite movies of the year right now. I'm a big Matrix fan, and I felt mostly satisfied with this and am eager to see this universe expand with more sequels.

Currently, I give it a solid 8 or 8.5/10. It's gonna be a very divisive movie for a lot of people, which I expected nothing less from the Wachowskis. Interesting to see how it will age over time.

To me Reloaded/Revolutions is a bit like Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2. The former is the fun, action-packed one, while the latter is the more somber, emotional core-- but it's one big story.

I think Reloaded is a blast and super rewatchable, but I will say that the final Neo/Smith battle in Revolutions is probably the piece of Matrix media I've revisited the most. The score alone never fails to give me goosebumps. I just find it insanely beautiful and moving that Neo has no chance of surviving that encounter, Smith knows it as an absolute certainty, and yet he just keeps going. Then there's Smith's amazing speech and Neo's realization/sacrifice. I love that entire sequence so, so much.

That final Neo/Smith fight in Revolutions in addition to the battle sequences in Zion (I'm a sucker for mech suits, and those used in Revolutions would've made James Cameron proud) are the best parts of either of those two sequels.


As for Resurrections, I'm undecided as to whether I'll be watching it tonight or tomorrow but it'll definitely be on HBO Max. Spider-Man was my last trip to the theater for a while.

-the story is fine.
-i knew it was meta. i am shocked how good it worked in the story
-i am ready for 1000 videos how this is to woke and complaints like the original creator doesnt know its own franchise. i am ready baby for all the fun in the next years. The Last Jedi here ...............we go
-if Hugo Weaving and Fishburne would be in the roles that are obviously meant for them the movie would be better.
-If you dont recognize who plays Tiffany's husband you were never a real matrix fan. Its the stunt double from Keanu from the original trilogy........who is also the director of John Wick movies. a perfect idea

-the action is bad. if you dont think than you were never an action movie fan. actors needed at least 3-4 months of training in the original trilogy. they didnt have time last year. To hide the bad fighting from the actors they used extreme fast editing. some of the editing looked like a Michael Bay movie. Even the fight choreography is bad. If you hire 87Eleven they get you better fights in 2 weeks which Lana knows. again.......its bad bad. It had to be intentional from her.

I really hope we get more Matrix after this. I don't know if WB will greenlight sequels, but I'm hoping. Even if they go straight to HBO Max, though i don't know if Lana would be on board with that.

Could someone explain the ramifications of the ending to me?

This felt like it ended with mutual respect between the "suits" of the Matrix and the humans (Trinity & Neo) with little to no consequence to them being free. I think they even encouraged them to try and free more humans, but they'd ultimately fail because of how good this iteration of the Matrix is... right? So while the first trilogy had massive stakes (machines vs. humans, ensuing war, extinction, etc.) this felt like it ended with everything still at peace? Io is still safe from what I gathered and the deal between Neo and the machines remained intact. If I misunderstood something here please let me know, I'd love some clarification on the ending here. This, to me, was a small scope love story, if anything. The freed humans wanting to reunite Trinity & Neo because of everything they had sacrificed for them all those years ago. Don't see how you build a new trilogy off of this movie here really. I definitely enjoyed the movie though and while it's smaller in scope, Trinity & Neo were always standouts in the original for me and to see them find their way back to each other was more than enough out of this. Better than Revolutions for sure imo.

Disappointing because I honestly thought the action looked pretty cool in the trailers even though nothing on the level of the originals. But exciting because I would've been on board for a Matrix sequel that had no action and was all story, I just enjoy the universe that much. So if the movie still manages to be captivating even without mind-blowing action, that's great news to me. A few more days to go...

I wouldn't even call it sub par, it's just not as insane as the other movies. There's a lot of practical work here, which I always appreciate. But action on par with what came before or not, it's still a really good movie, if you ask me. Agreed, after the large-scale craziness of the original sequels, there's a small scope to this one that is a wonderful change of pace for this franchise. I really enjoyed it

That's a great way to look at it. This movie has a lot of heart and emotion. Most of all, it was different, which is what I wanted. Not everybodys cup of tea, I'm sure, but it was for me.

I just finished it and of course I will need to rewatch, but I did not like it at all.

It was just as I feared: the movie ultimately had NOTHING to say. I empathize with Lana Wachowski and her feelings of wanting to resurrect Neo and Trinity because of what was going on in her life, but this story was so half-baked. Subtlety was missing from this film, and when you have to do all these callbacks on top of callbacks, you're telling us too much rather than showing. I didn't agree with a lot of the decisions made in this film, it does feel like everything they did and fought for in the original trilogy was all for nothing, but this movie just has a lot of interesting ideas but horrible execution.

Jessica Henwick and Neil Patrick Harris did great in their roles though.
