Did they have a fallen out? did Lana ever said why the recast?
Yeah they talk about it in the film itself, that was the only real interesting part of the film. But they dont have any New thing to show, its all rehash. Nothing New happens. Why this film was made is a part of the movie's actual story. WB is rebooting or continuing every piece of formerly proper IP they have like Space Jam and Dune. They're desperate for money in the age of Disney dominance as new IP is almost certain death at the box office.
That kind of tracks for me. This film is sort of more interesting as a curious artefact than as another chapter in the ongoing continuity. It is more concerned than ever with the sensation of being lost, and while there is some interesting lore, you don't get as complete a picture as you did with the past sequels.
The closest thing to this that I can remember was Twin Peaks: The Return, although Resurrections is much more approachable.
Still dont know why they made this film.
Much better than Dark Fate, in my mind. Not as good as the other 3 films in the Matrix trilogy, but better than Dark Fate to me haha. All fun and games until we get The Matrix Dark Fate.
Then again Resurrections was sort of DF-ish.
For sure.money
Maybe Lana wasn't too interested in the action side this time around, but it is odd how rough and lame the action is.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Warner Brothers confirmed a Matrix reboot back in 2017 and was originally going to hire Marvels writer Zak Penn to work on a treatment before Lana Wachowksi agreed to get involved. Evidently, she was also inspired to return to the franchise after the death of her parents. Now, why Wachowski felt the need to cheekily address her decision and her history with Warner Brothers in the film itself remains a mystery. I guess we’ll just have to wait for The Matrix 5 to find out.

The industry rumor for about three years now has been the sisters read Penn’s script and Lana was appalled by it.
