I preferred it when Hal and Barry where dead honestly. It added texture to the universe.

I think I just associated GL with Hal too much to appreciate that. For a long time the GL story was primarily Hal Jordan's story to me, almost as much as Batman's was Bruce Wayne's (and yet I prefer Dick Grayson as Batman. Go figure, lol). Hal's just central to all the biggest GL stories, and his relationship to Sinestro is key to the GL mythology, imo. I like the others (especially Kyle), but they just don't make Green Lantern Green Lantern the way Hal does for me.

That's why his descent into madness and eventual redeeming sacrifice held such weight to me. Plus it paved the way for Kyle.

Oh yeah, I definitely loved all that. I'm not against seeing Hal's downfall on film. I'm actually kinda hoping one of the later Justice League films will tackle some variation of the Emerald Twilight storyline, but I realize a Green Lantern-centric JL movie is a pipe dream, lol.

Honestly, I was hoping to see a [blackout]Death of Superman/Reign of the Supermen/Emerald Twilight big-screen Justice League saga, but oh well, I guess that's out now, lol.[/blackout]

[BLACKOUT]Superman has to come back somehow.[/BLACKOUT]

Yeah, but [blackout]They're clearly going for a Darkseid storyline next, and we supposedly have no GL for a while, so it's looking like the window for that particular saga will be missed.[/blackout]

Well [BLACKOUT]Darkseid would hypothetically take Mongul's place in Reign of the Supermen.[/BLACKOUT]

But Kyle was our Lantern. He was our boy. How dare you turn your 80s birthed back on such a cool, nice guy like Kyle? He had the best GL suit and everything.:kyle:

:hmm I like this thought. I do worry it would lack emotional weight without a [blackout]Hal already established, though. Like, they'd NEED to introduce him ASAP if we're gonna suddenly care about his downfall. It would be a bummer not getting to see him in his full glory as one of the great GL's first. [/blackout]

He's DC's Peter Parker and Jon Snow in one Nine Inch Nails listening package.

I'm just gonna shut up and not share my opinion.

I do think it's too dark to do that storyline when the universe as a whole is in serious need of becoming a bit more commercial.

Yeah, like I said, in my head this was one of those "down the line" Justice League sagas to do. Ya know, when it was time to "take things dark," lol. But when you start out so dark...I don't even know.

Well, I didn't mind that since it was a Superman that divided the world and a Batman that was jaded and burnt out. But there was a dire need for a solo Wonder Woman and a Man of Steel 2 to have been out. But what's done is done and it is what it is. Without Iron Man 2 we wouldn't have gotten Avengers, Iron Man Three and Winter Soldier.

Of course Bruce Timm and Sam Liu could do it with more accuracy. :cwink:

It's just kind of odd to hear the filmmakers talking up a Darkseid tale as "lighter in tone," lol. But hey, if they just give us a bunch of heroes banding together against this god and his war planet, I guess that could qualify as a "feel good" story by WB/DC standards. ;)

I can't be Johns. I never would have brought Barry back. :sly:

GOOD! I'm actually hoping George Miller puts his original idea of [BLACKOUT]killing Barry in his JL film and spinning off with Wally West.[/BLACKOUT]

Funnily enough, the way we left off Batman, he's actually in a position to be a much lighter character than he has been in years, [BLACKOUT]since they've forced him to be the one that unifies the League. Plus they can soft reboot Superman, by bringing Cavill back as a more lighthearted Superman.[/BLACKOUT]

Indeed. I hope they actually take this opportunity and have some fun with that.
