Man, backing up is important as hell. I lost 250 GB of DJ tunes when my last drive crashed. Now I'm paranoid as f*** so I have a 3 TB external, 1 TB external, 1 TB on my laptop, a 128 GB thumb drive, and I have a few homies I trust that I back up my ish on their stuff periodically as well. Never again will I lose tunes.
Lol. I don't want to buy a gun. But if somebody gives one to me, I'd accept it.
Man, you don't ever accept a gun someone "gives" to you. Are you out of your damn mind? That's how you get set up on a murder charge fool.
I'm planning to get a Blu-ray burner to start backing up files on rewritable Blu-ray discs soon as well.
I already have an external 1 tb that is nearly filled up. Blu-Ray RW's would be long term storage that isn't frequently updated. That way I won't have to add even more harddrives. I already have a total of 4-5 TB of storage space including the backup. Besides a Blu-Ray RW can hold 20-40 gbs of space, much more than the DVD format can where you were stuck at 4.5 or 8 if it was DVD-R DL.That's way dated tech homie, external's are dirt cheap now. Hell, I keep seeing 1 TB SSD for less than $500 now which is crazy. I just want them to come down another hundo or so before I jump on it. I'm always watching for the deals though, Amazon Prime sometimes has killer ones.
Sooner or later I'll need to get a Terabyte external lol I went through that re-downloading once when my old Tower's power supply died and took alot of the stuff I had on it withI have a lot of internal drives and one external that holds 1 terabyte (really only 931 gigabytes) so I have that covered... mostly. I need another that holds at least as much if not more to keep my bases covered.
Fortunately these days such things are much cheaper than they used to be. I remember when harddrives held 3 gigs and that was "a lot."
But definitely, yes. No matter how confident or sure you are, always back up important files. I lost a few television shows and movies. Nothing irreplaceable or particularly hard to recover, although that is a major pain in the ass to redownload all of that. At least most of my relied-upon programs I already kept back ups of in another drive.

Yeah, I've seen the prices drop lol It's just every time they do they disappear FAST! There's a couple colleges in this area not to mention all the Venders for Walmart
I'm a music hoarder and one can never have enough digital space.

Any Celine Dion songs in your collection?
Not sure why you felt it necessary to quote me twice but yes, I have several remixes and mashups of hers. My personal fave is the music from Radiohead's Creep with her vocals from the power of love. That one always gives me a chuckle.
Honestly, though, besides the stuff of hers that's in my 90's collection most of it is just used as dancefloor clearers or just to make other DJs laugh and f*** with people.
