Sure, we can use classic covers, too. I searched for the classic Nr. 1 - 50, it was Journey into Mystery but without Thor. Thor started with issue 126. Is this right? I'm not familliar with the comic history.

Thor first showed up in Journey into Mystery 83, and took over the title from there. As you said, the title changed from JIM to Thor at issue 126.

So if you want to count down 50 issues to Thor's first appearance, start with Thor #133 (Volume 1), and end at JIM #83.
