The MLB Thread

Mets had to go with a very good Peterson or destroy their bullpen for game 2 and that roll didn't work out any better than starting Senga. Baseball's weird and some nights you just don't have it. Mets have the advantage in Game 2, but the Sean better be on.....

Game 1 isn't over, but scoring 6+ doesn't look good. Stupid.....stupid base running doesn't help. SMH...

Who is ready to blast Wild Thing on repeat all day until the ALCS starts!!!!!

At least it's only 1 game lol! But yeesh, this 1 pitcher single handedly put this one out of reach

This team is testing my patience now.....

2 runs on errors, and 3 on wild pitches yesterday. That's been the difference. Lights are too bright for the Guardians

And I have turned the game off. This team is choking hardcord. Awful

Patience young Skywalker.....
I dont see why I should be optimistic based on what I am seeing in these 2 games. 5 runs allowed on errors or wild pitches, stranding batters in the double digits, and now Aaron Judge gets a home run and maybe getting hot. Where is our advantage?

The Guardians can still come back, win the next 4 games and make it to the World Series, but they have to play a lot better than they did in the first 2 games. :(

I mean sure, anything is technically possible. But I am not seeing a reason to be optimistic about the probability of that happening. They're choking. What else am I to call it when your gold glove winning players are making stupid errors and your supposedly best bullpen in the league gives 3 runs off wild pitches?

Hope for the best. Expect the worst. That's Cleveland sports

It's funny because as a Yankee fan, I know that outside of the Judge and Stanton HRs in Games 1 and 2, I felt like the Yankees haven't earned their runs and got a break from Guardian errors that have been VERY uncharacteristic for them. I'm paranoid all it takes is for Guardians to play a clean game and the Yanks are in trouble. We'll see how it goes in Cleveland!

You have nothing to fear. The Guardians are clearly scared of the moment and the pin stripes. I have no reason to believe anything is going to change in Cleveland. Cleveland sports history supports my pessimism. I can only hope something changes at some point before I die. But unlikely

Ahhhhhh......the analytical, unbiased one strikes again!!1. ;) :funny:

Not sure how the Mets have done with injuries this year, but I think they've got a decent chance against the Dodgers. Frankly, they'd probably be overmatched if not for injuries to all of the Dodgers' pitchers I've been referring to. TBH, I've never seen anything quite like it. What they've been doing is getting absolutely stellar work from their bullpen (but now Vesia is hurt!!) and they've just been outhitting people. If the Mets are going to win, they have to hope that Ohtani and Betts stay relatively cold because when they get going, the Dodgers are an offensive juggernaut.

And now for my podcast.....

San Diego fans are not happy because they were shut out by the Dodgers twice in a row. They won't get shut out 3 times in a row because they lost game 5. The Dodgers' fans are happy because they scored more runs 2 games in a row to win the series.

The Mets fans are happy because they outplayed a Phillies team that didn't play very well and so the Mets will face the Dodgers in a series both teams will try to win. I'm sure their fans are very excited.
The series is tied 1-1! Heading back to Queens for three games is going to be electric! Seven more wins, and we win it all!

The Mets have announced their lineup for ceremonial first pitches at Citi Field for the NLCS!

Game 3, Darryl Strawberry and Doc Gooden!
Game 4 Robin Ventura and Edgardo Alfonzo!
Game 5 Matt Harvey and Yoenis Céspedes!

So, here's the thing Severino had good stuff, but really struggled with location. Walker wasn't much better, but now it's basically up to the bullpens and with the Dodgers up by a couple, I don't like the Mets' odds.

Here's some solace......I'm always wrong. :funny:

EDIT: I'm always wrong unless I say I'm wrong. Then, I can be right.....sometimes.

With the way things are going, it looks like the World Series is going to be the Yankees and the Dodgers.

I mean, I'll probably watch it if there's nothing else on TV, but that potential World Series doesn't interest me much, either.
I watch the Super Bowl every year, but I don't watch the NBA Finals or World Series every year anymore. I used to, but I stopped being in that habit as various life things took over and now I only tend to watch if I am interested in the matchups or maybe I watch the clinching games. For Dodgers vs Yankees if that is what we get.....meh. I am just out

In a best of 7, one game can turn the series on its head. If the Mets win Game 4, it makes Game 5 pivotal with the winner having a solid upper hand. If the Dodgers win Game 4, then the Mets are in trouble.

MLB front office would be very happy with a Yankees v Mets OR Dodgers.....probably slightly favor the Dodgers because they can ramble on about their historical confrontations and the demographics are a little bit better.

Now all we need to do is to point out how happy Dodgers fans are because they won an important game because they outscored the Mets and didn't allow them to score any runs.

As a Cleveland fan, I don't care what these big markets want. Or what's going to draw higher ratings. I have some sympathy for the Mets cause they don't have a track record like the Dodgers or Yankees. But how much do I really care about another Yankees or Dodgers WS win? I just cannot muster enthusiasm. I am just sitting back here like I have been a more than patient t fan of these teams. I am going to need a reward very soon.

Except from the Cavs. They did their job

I get it and thought I might be hearing from you. LOL. Cleveland has some work to do if they're going to get back into the series. Basically, they pretty much have to win the next 2. I can honestly say I've never rooted for the Yankees....not ever. I did go to one of their games when I was in NY doing for an IT buildout, but it was mainly because I like to "collect" ballparks and I'd never been to Yankee Stadium. The top 2 on my list now are Fenway and Wrigley.

Go Cleveland.....
