3 more wins to go. 😋

Would be great if Cole can throw a masterclass tomorrow. Please? Pretty please? My mind is thinking Dodgers finish it tomorrow but please Yankees make it interesting again.
That's what I'm thinking, too. That the Dodgers win the next game and end the Series.

I REALLY hated that 5th inning from the Yankees defense. The first 2 errors sucked, but Cole would've gotten out of it if he just RAN TO FIRST. Rizzo is going to get half the blame but anyone who has fielded would know the spin forced Rizzo to stop. Ugh. Cole was pitching so well too. What a collapse.

Ugh. Well the 5th inning is very hard for me to swallow. One more inning left, anything can happen yes, but I don't think it will and for my mental health I have to go to bed haha.

I want to congratulate the Dodger fans. Congratulate the Dodgers. Happy for Ohtani. Great team. Relentless offense y'all deserve it. Enjoy it you all. Good night!

Yeah.....a LOT of bad things had to happen for the Dodgers to win this one. Baseball is a funny game. One mistake can change everything. The Yanks made a few and it seemed so uncharacteristic of them. Ultimately, the Dodgers were probably going to take it after building a 3-0 lead, but this game 5 was a tough one to lose. Yanks obviously have an extremely talented, deep team and deserved to be in the big series.

The players on the Yankees all seem to be class guys (unlike Jurickson Profar of the Padres.....but he's been home for a while) and I wish them well. That team's gonna be back.

I'll tell you what. It was tough, but oddly enough it made me at peace with the events of Game 1 now. Can you imagine if say Yankees did win that game and everything else transpired the way they did? Series tied 2-2, Yanks have that 5-0 lead looking like they'll have a 3-2 advantage going to LA only for it to flip? Sure the series would still be going but that would've been far more devastating. At least I can wake up this morning and say hey Dodgers are just clearly the better team.

It's one of my common comments that "baseball is a funny game". Had Freeman flied out, you can't really say anything after that would have proceeded the way it did (although Yamamoto was aces in G 2). The bottom line is we'll never know. If you play that series 10 times, the Yanks win some of them. They're a great team and solid from top to bottom. Not having Judge for the 1st 4 games hurt the team like hell. Betts and Freeman both went south last year and the Dodgers had an early exit. It happens to everyone.

The Dodgers surprised me. Their starting pitching was an absolute mess and looks to be much, much stronger next year, but, hey, injuries are part of the game and we'll see.

What are the rumors about the Yanks off season plans? Soto is going to demand a HUGE contract and I've heard rumblings about the Mets and Cubs.

Oh yeah most def. I mean honestly that butterfly effect if they won Game 1 would've for sure altered how Roberts uses his bullpen in Game 4 for starters.

I don't know where Soto is going to go honestly. He's done a fantastic job of not promising anything to any team. I feel like the Yankees need to sign him. NY Media is 50-50 on him staying.

Rizzo is likely gone, though I personally want him to stay, and I think Torres' playoffs will keep him a Yankee a little longer.

Bullpen doesn't need as much work as I initially thought so outside of trying to find a true closer, Yanks need to focus on starting pitching. They need a good number 2.

Yeah. I thought your bullpen was really solid, but I've seen this all year; the Dodgers just grind on you from batter to batter. They swung at more bad pitches than usual this series, but that could be the quality of the pitches themselves. As far as bullpen depth and quality goes, believe me, that changes from year to year. All it takes is for one or two guys to have down years or a couple of injuries. The Dodgers were lucky that they had so many relievers that had solid to great years because they needed them with all the injuries to their starters. While I thought they were a well put together team, I didn't like their chances in each series because their rotation was so thin.

I'm very interested to see what happens with Soto. He had an incredible year and has his best years in front of him. Guy is gonna break the bank and good for him. If I'm the Yanks, I do everything I can to keep him and they've got deep pockets. Anyway, I'm looking forward to see what teams do.

Now, back to the NFL. :funny:

I told a friend who is a Braves fan that my 2024 World Series prediction is that the Yankees will win a competitive World Series in seven games.
He predicted that the Dodgers would win it in 6 games. I see that he was far closer because right about the winner, and took the Dodgers 1 less game to win the World Series so he was narrowly wrong for games because it concluded in 5 games, not 6.

I was hopeful that a stacked Yankees that can score many runs would outplay the Dodgers.
Now I'm unsurprised I was proven wrong because the FreeMan-era Dodgers are not Rookies for the World Series. The Judge Era Yankees were World Series rookies, and they couldn't recover after failing to close vs the Dodgers which had the stunning outcome that is FreeMan hitting a grand slam in extra innings.

A walk-off grand slam never happened before the 2024 World Series Yankees at Dodgers game 1.
Walk-off home runs have happened in past World Series games before the 2024 World Series, except those aren't entirely the same thing as a grand slam because any Walk-off home run can never match a Grand Slam which is bases loaded resulting in 4 runs scored.

My Lord man, you really need to start a YouTube channel with your analyses :swoon:

Once it was Dodgers v Yanks, the ratings were a foregone conclusion. This will probably be just about it for me on this thread, but, having watched the Dodgers all year, my take is that this is a very tough, disciplined team from 1-9. Sure, Ohtani gets most of the headlines and rightfully so, the guy just absolutely killed it this year, but when you go down their lineup, you get the superstars like Freeman and Betts, an all star like Will Smith, a guy like Teoscar Hernandez who hit 30 some odd HRs, and people like Muncy, Kike, Rojas, Edman, Pages, Lux, and Taylor who, even if they didn't get a hit, made pitchers work and caused pitchers to grind, and wear down, inning by inning. Over 9 innings, they generally just got to you. Their bullpen, while I thought they were very good, completely over performed what anyone could have imagined and made up for all of those injuries to their starters.

Some years, things fall right for you and given all the injuries to the starting pitching, everything else fell into place for the Dodgers.

I want to say congrats to the Dodgers on a well-deserved World Series victory! They legitimized the 2020 team in 2024! Nobody can say they won because of the shortened season anymore, and nobody can express that the Yankees are better than the Mets! We took the Dodgers to six games, and the Yankees lost in five. I'm confident we will get Juan Soto If we had him on the Mets this year! Maybe we won't strand thirteen runs in the NLCS, and what is up with Aaron Judge robbing a home run in game five but not catching a routine flyball? Cole should have covered the first on the Slow Roller. I watched the series with my Yankee fan nephew, Yankee nation now understands what it's like to be a Mets fan when the Wilpon's owned the team I never thought I'd say this but I feel bad for them a little bit they make the world series and might not bring back Soto it's wild they've lost three out of the last four world series they've gone to they got really cheap.

Rots a Ruck......

Maybe if it's stretched out over 15-20 years.

I never thought of the 2020 series as an asterisk. Every team had the same chance to win it and the Dodgers came out on top. While the rules changed, they changed for everyone.

If we want to talk about asterisk series wins, it begins and ends with the Houston Astros. That crown should have been Yanked (excuse the pun) from them. Period.

Bush lost his Heisman because his parents got an apartment or something like that and the Astros get caught cheating at the GAME and nothing happens??? Please.....

I guess if I'm a team that is in year two of a 10 year, $70M per year contract, I'd be cautious too. It sounds like they're not going to keep Flaherty. He's been up and down over his career, but did fine for the Dodgers in 2024. I see a team overpaying for him because of that and my guess is the Dodgers think they have enough depth at starter to let him walk.
