The show has recently been killing of a lot of the secondary and tertiary characters that appeared throughout the show before as of late right?

Ziva's dad, Vance's wife, Franks, one of the female agents who helped the team before. I think Tobias is the next to get it.

I don't think Tobias is next. We haven't seen him much lately but he's still got a role to play.

Ziva's father and Vance's wife were a good way to bring Vance into a more active role. Despite being in the main credits, Rocky Carroll barely gets any screen time. It was also a good way to spark a big storyline for him and Cote.

Franks though I think they just ran out of ideas for and wanted to give him something of a meaningful send off.

Both shows got off to a good start, it was an interesting twist that the whole team were basically targets and Colin Hanks character switching attitudes. The scenes with Gibbs and Tobias were great as usual but I'm still not happy about the Ziva situation.

As for LA, I'm glad they wrapped up the Sidorov stuff but left Janvier alive as Callen's nemesis. I also think Deeks trying to deal with his torture experience is going to be interesting given that it will show another side to the character and most likely his relationship with both Kensi and Sam. I notice Granger is now on the credits as well.

I loved that the first thing McGee said to Fornell was a comment about his wife I get the feeling that next week will be both rough and brilliant for certain sections of the fandom... I've always liked the Ziva role, so it's going to be a bit of a downer to see Cote leave, but if the promo for next week is anything, she's not dying.

NCISLA was great... The fact they aren't having Deeks be perfectly fine after being ****ed up like that (that scream from the torture was rather un-nerving). Called and Jean Viearve's (I know I spelt that wrong) was well done.

There is talk of an NCIS: New Orleans coming via backdoor pilot in Feburary.

[...]the network is working on a planted NCIS spinoff series, which will be introduced in a two-part NCIS episode slated to shoot in February and air in the spring. Set in New Orleans, the potential spinoff is executive produced by NCIS star/executive producer Mark Harmon and executive producer/showrunner Gary Glasberg. The character-driven project, written by Glasberg and produced by CBS Studios, centers on the the NCIS New Orleans office which handles cases from Pensacola through Mississippi and Louisiana to the Texas panhandle. New Orleans was picked as a backdrop for the show because of its pedigree of a rich setting of music, fun and debauchery that makes it a magnet for military personnel on-leave.

Well a New Orleans spin-off seems a better idea than the aborted RED spin-off.

From the description it can utilize RED's concept while still maintaining the homebase concept of the current two.

It also makes more sense too since the Gulf Coast is full of military installations. They just need to get a good cast for it to possibly work.

Wrapped up some lingering threads from last season's finale but left more to be answered next week. Have to think they'll finally show who Gibbs is targeting with the sniper rifle from the season finale. The final moments with Tony and Ziva will be really emotional.

I think with Cote de Pablo leaving they had to do some quick adjustments to the premiere to accomodate that or we would have already seen this arc concluded.

I think they Knew there might be a departure when they wrote last season's finale... It gave them the freedom to write out whoever it was that left...

They felt certain she would sign on even though they knew it was possible.

TVLINE| How surprised were you by Cote’s decision?
I was very, very surprised. I think it was you that I told at some point, that I was “very confident” that this was going to work out. And I was very confident. This is not what I was planning on. As [CBS Corp. CEO Les] Moonves said earlier [Monday], everyone really wanted this to work. She’s a part of this family and a part of this team, and the efforts were being made by everyone.

TVLINE | Was it, like, a matter of Cote wanting to re-up for just one year versus multiple years…?
It wasn’t even the specifics. It was clear at the end of the day that this was her decision. And we have to respect it. Someone asked me if I was planning for this, but I really wasn’t, so basically the minute that this became real, I had to throw out a lot of what I was planning to do and start from scratch. But what came out of it is a really terrific [season-opening] two-parter that I think people are going to be really blown away by.

The article makes a point of saying that it took "characters a long time to warm up to Ziva" after Kate's death, but it also took FANS a long time to warm up to her. Whoever ends up replacing Ziva will have a very difficult road ahead of them.

It's too little to go on, she could just be another person in the chair they rotate through until they find the one they want to permanantly cast. Outside of a little more depth and background information it doesn't sound any more likely than the others who will rotate in and out of Ziva's position.

Her character bio, short as it was, makes it sound like she'll fit in with them once all the adjustments are made but obviously it's going to take more than a paragraph to win anyone over.

I guess this is different for me as I didn't really start watching the show regularly until Ziva came into it I never had any "warming up" period. As for the new girl, thanks to that article I can actually now place who she played in The Bridge, she's younger than Kate and Ziva (or at least looks it) but at least she's a very different type I guess, that should remove some comparisons.

I still don't want Ziva to go.

This episode officially just broke my heart......All the Dinozzo and Ziva Scenes are just heartwrenching.

They just sort of left her in Israel with no real purpose or job. Seems like they are leaving the tiniest of windows for her to return if Ziva deals with her in-show issues and Cote de Pablo ever wants to come back.

The resolution to the Gibbs aiming down a sniper rifle was pretty funny with Tobias taking a bullet through the buttocks so Gibbs could stop the evil CEO from detonating his cellphone bomb.

It didn't come across as 'THE END!!!!!' But more of 'the end...' for Ziva... It's going to be interesting to see how the characters respond to her choice.

Seemed to be the night for NCIS 'ships' with one ending... Another is starting an arc. I did like the scene at the end with Deeks and Kensi, the actors have good on screen chemistry. Same goes for Nell and Eric

That's what I was thinking. If she knew full well the details of his crimes, she wouldn't have been so willing to obstruct Tony and Mossad's search for her.

Yeah, I've watched from the very beginning and I was a big "Kate" fan. Her death was a major blow. When Ziva first came on, it just didn't feel right to me. It definitely took some getting used to when it came to her. Now, I really really hate to see her go.

Ziva. The way it was done, her reasoning, all felt a bit forced to me since she'd gotten past her main issues regarding her father last season, but the scenes with her and Tony were fantastic, I also liked the simplicity of the final scene of her calling Gibbs, his face said it all.

I liked the resolution to the immediate problem and the stuff with Gibbs and Fornell, and they've left a potential season spanning threat in play.

LA was a strange episode, the stuff with Eric and the pants was seemingly random and the main case had no resolution and doesn't seem to continuing next week despite the massive nature of crashing a plane. I guess these cyber ninjas could be a recurring threat this season but things just trailed off when the guys lawyered up.

I loved the ending with Deeks and Kensi though.

I think the one slight difference is that Ziva has been there 8 years, that's such a long time for a character and fans to connect.

Cote and Michael Weatherly were superb in those scenes. I am hoping the reason the screen time was limited is that the way they did things has left the door wide open for Ziva to return.

Honestly, didn't buy Ziva's exit from the show and I thought it was poorly written.

Like, she killed her brother like 20 years ago. Tony killed her boy toy before she became an official NCIS agent.
