This was posted earlier from Saint, it's a pretty good description of everything that's happened so far.

WB rolled out another crazy viral marketing push today.

The International Comic-Con began yesterday, and found on the convention floor were phony dollar bills (see here) with clown makeup scribbled over George Washington, and the message "Why So Serious?" Fanboys everywhere visited www.whysoserious.com to find a defaced "I want you!" poster (here), and a Joker-esque message encouraging people to apply for a "job." There was a clock ticking down to noon today, and a set of coordinates (which pointed to an area just outside the convention).

A later update revealed that fans who showed up there when the clock hit zero would work together with fans online to some end. When the time came, the hundreds of fans who showed up were all painted in Joker makeup, and moved from checkpoint to checkpoint getting clues to help solve the puzzles for those online. Finally, when all the checkpoints had been reached, one fan was selected (by what means I'm not sure; perhaps he wast the first there) and driven away in an SUV with Gotham City plates.

Online, with the last puzzle solved the teaser trailer (here) was revealed. Shortly afterwards, a mock police report appeared, featuring a photo of the selected fan, having been "killed" (here). The police report mentions him holding the note "See You In December," which as I mentioned in my earlier post has appeared elsewhere during this campaign. Prior to this, two other police reports also appeared on the site (here and here), as well as this picture of The Joker (Ledger), and Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal).

The puzzles have since been removed, and displayed on the website (http://www.whysoserious.com/) is the final page (which was originally displayed only once the puzzles were solved). You'll notice a little flashing pixel--if you click it, it brings you to the trailer page, which includes a hi-defionition download.

Oh, this is neat, too: the first puzzle involved dialing an 800 number which played a recording of some guy being "held hostage" by the Joker. I actually found it to be genuinely unsettling. You can DL it here if you want.

I was there from 16 hours till the event and every minute was over seen by myself. I finished the puzzles with people on this board and it was amazing. I feel bad for the people missed out on it.

Maybe it was the number off ppl who were allowed to participate I mean if you think about the joke kinda makes sense. how many hopefuls are playing my game 401. i dunno just my 2 cents.

I think perhaps you should quote me when re-posting my posts.

It kinda sucks that we cant go back throught the site and answer each question one by one and/or check out each page one by one. Its just that main page announcing the winner now.

Oh well. By the way, where on that main is the flashing pixel that is supposed to direct you to the teaser download link?

Thats a pretty crazy marketing technique. Would have been fun to play but Such is Life

Just wondering...who arr the ppl on the surveillance site?

The people who were there today.

The phone thing was cool. I called it thinking it was a fake and then suddenly some guy's voice talking about how he's going to be killed.

a whole year away and this movie is already the biggest thing happening in 2008.

It´s one of the biggest, but a lot of other good films are coming out in 08´ so it´s not the biggest

Someone should combine that phone message with the Teaser with no real footage have & have Bruce start talking after the shot :ninja:

they took the joker down

they took who they thought was the Joker down. Joker tricked people into thinking he's dead

Was anybody able to extract the Joker saying "Why so serious" from the website? Think it was in a flash player.

Yeah it was a flash object, I think it was a button rollover or something. Actually all of the pages were entirely made in flash. But no, it wasn't extractable.
