The New Diamond List for November 3rd, 2010

Phaedrus is the ruler of a small country. All of the buildings there are constructed of back-issues. :awesome:

It wouldn't surprise me, I am in awe of how much comics this man is able to afford, I think I'd have to spend my entire week's wage to buy as many as that :awesome:

BATMAN AND ROBIN #16 $3.99
SECRET SIX #27 $2.99
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #647 $4.99
CHAOS WAR #3 (OF 5) $3.99
SCARLET #3 (MR) $3.95 - maybe, im still trying to decide if I should trade wait

Ah, even I have had to cut back on my spending with the high price of comics nowadays. (Thankfully, I'm grandfathered in at my LCS with a 20% discount. I guess the best you can get now is 10%.) I think I've dropped about 20 titles in the past four months, many of them DC books. (I've only kept about 3 of the Green Hornet books...and, didn't bite at the new one that just came out this week.)

I loved that the new Previews show a lot of the DC books all dropping to $2.99 again. I didn't see that with Marvel Previews, though. Most books for them are still pretty high priced for January...and, wonder if the price change is gonna come a bit later. (Wizard's final article in the magazine that came out this week speaks on the high comic prices and how many are dropping titles and being more selective. I guess a good amount of people are going over to DC, just because they're cheaper. Sadly, I don't find their quality of story isn't as good as Marvel's.)

Adventure comics #520 $3.99
brightest day #13 $2.99
superboy #1 $2.99

avengers academy #6 $2.99
chaos war #3 (of 5) $3.99
taskmaster #3 (of 4) $3.99

Marvel's Avengers vs. Pet Avengers mini is only $3. I was surprised; I thought all of their minis across the board were still carrying the $4 price tag. Maybe that one's an exception because it's an all-ages title, though.

Yeah, all the all ages titles are $2.99 I think, mini or regardless

Quiet week for me. Currently only have my mind set on ASM #647. I'll probably fill the void with some impulse buys. Anyone have suggestions?

Hard to recommend something for an impulse buy, because many of my favorites are already deep into some stories. Like, my favorite from DC this week is Sweet Tooth; but, the writer of that book is writing Superboy...which you can get on the ground floor with. (Plus, that issue #1 is only $2.99. For those two reasons, it's probably my biggest recommendation to you.)

With Marvel, I've been loving Avengers Academy, Scarlet, and Taskmaster. Probably Avengers Academy is the easiest to get into; but, the other two I enjoy more. Of course, there are a couple #1 issues that Marvel is releasing that I'm interested in, like the Bullseye 2-parter and the Captain America mini.

I get 20% off my books, and usually 25% (or more) off trades...

:yay:

I posted that site that gives 35% off, at the very least...and, many books 50% off. I'd do that, if I wasn't getting so many variants, I think. My shop, though, gives no discounts on trades.

I get a 10% discount on everything. Not bad, but usually I'll go to Amazon or Books-a-Million for trades because they usually have better prices.
