Sequels The New Mutants - Josh Boone to Direct

Boone is apparently doing The Stand early next year, and it will allegedly be a nine part (8 episode miniseries plus a feature) adaptation. I have to imagine this will take some time, so don't expect to see New Mutants for at least a few years.

Yeah, and Josh Boone favourited a tweet about the TheWrap report, so it looks like it could well happen.

TheWrap says it will shoot early next year as one cohesive project, so we're not looking at New Mutants to enter production until at least mid-late 2016, probably later.

Considering the shoot to release times of Deadpool, Apocalypse, and seemingly Gambit. It could well still come out in 2017, but I now think it will be Fox's reserved 2018 spot.

Yeah, The Stand has always been rumored as a massively ambitious project and this definitely fits the bill. Nothing wrong with that though, Boone seems really into the thing and should take his time with this before moving onto New Mutants. Wouldn't want him to crack under the pressure of handling bigger movies lol.

But even then with post production plus promotion and all that you have to factor in that New Mutants might not even happen until later. So who knows at this stage.

New Mutants is probably intended to be his next project after The Stand, though the report on The Stand did mention that Boone's still attached to that Anne Rice vampire thing. That doesn't seem to have had a ton of movement of late, though.

2018 does sound likely. I guess the question is how much of a placeholder that untitled 2018 movie is.

Regardless of when it hits, I really hope that Selene or Emplate is the villain. Selene IMO should be Sasha Grey since Selene absolutely needs to be played by a sex symbol, preferably one who's done actual acting work and not just a runway model. If it's Emplate, I'd cast Barkhad Abdi since he has the look and massive chops. I feel very, very strongly about these two being cast.

I get what you mean but I don't see Fox hiring an adult film actress. Even though the X-Men are targeted to a more adult audience kids still go and see it. So I don't think that would happen. Selene could be played by Eva Green. She has that sexuality you speak of and she's a great actress.

She hasn't done adult movies in years. She's gone mainstream.

Yeah but still she was an adult film actress. No matter what she will not be cast in a big box office movie where all the press will be porn star in new X-Men. Can you just imagine the title of articles? XXX-Men. It won't happen.

BTW, while I think Selene is the most logical villain based on the descriptions, I'd love to see the Hellions because you could have the most horrible human being alive: Empath (Manuel de la Rocha). Seriously, that kid is evil. That being said, it seems harder to pull it off in the current X-Universe without the White Queen. Maybe have Selene lead the Hellions?

I saw that and it does make sense that they have at least been considered.

From what we know, Josh Boone who loves the comics pitched the idea to Fox (I assume) sometime after DOFP came out. Maybe seeing Sunspot, Warpath etc. was one of his inspirations to give it a go.

He does say "characters" so they could be younger versions of certain characters that he wants to use, that way josh Boone can have his own sorta take on the character

And let's be honest in this universe that's happened a lot, deadpool getting their own alternative take on colossus, origins getting their alternative take on sabertooth, singer getting his alternative take on angel, trask, jubilee, toad and tatum getting his own take on gambit

psylock in apocalypse or will DOFP actors return in supporting roles.
