Poor Dr. Midnite. He didn't even get mentioned.:o

That's not the batcave, that's the original JLA cave.

I would've preferred a different artist on this. And, well, a different writer.
I've liked Amanda Conner's art since I first saw it. It's... charming. I think it works pretty well here.

Winick, on the other hand, could never write comics again and I'd be happy.

I don't know if it's the style or the inks or the coloring, but something about the art looks too damn cartoony for this. I got as far as the panel of Dinah chained up in the basement and just went yeeeaah this isn't happening. I can't really imagine this kind of art working for anything that's not a straight-up comedy book.

I don't know if they ever "hooked up" but I know something happened between them that involved Dinah getting dipped into the Lazarus pits and getting back her powers.

it was early on in the birds of prey series where she hooked up with him and he dipped ended up dipping her in the lazarus pit and she regained her canary cry.

i like it too, but it's definitely not for everyone. it's a little too cartoon-y for most books, but it'd work out pretty well on one of the teen books like robin, blue beetle or teen titans. i could see it working on shadowpact, too.

Winick is suck a mixed bag for me. I loved Exiles and his Outsiders right up until Indigo turned evil again. His Green Arrow has always been okay. But the longer he writes a particular title, the progressively worse it seems to get. Outsiders is just plain bad these days, and I can't stand his Black Canary.

I think he's worked his way through all of his social issues at least once or twice in his books, and after that he really doesn't have a whole lot of good superhero stories to tell.

Curious. I accidentally wrote "suck" when I meant "such" when talking about Winick.

Freudian?

Like the art, even like the writing, but this book doesn't interest me in the slightest. Besides, I've been burned by Winick before.

i actually liked the green arrow/black canary wedding special. say what you want about amanda connor's art, but she packs a lot stuff into each panel. her pencils are very simple and cartoon-ish looking, but there are tons of things going on in the background and it was a blast to check out everyone during that big rumble at the wedding. winnick's writing wasn't too bad, either. sure, there were some mischaracterizations, but the story was pretty fun and well written. my favorite part, hands down, was the bachelorette party scene with zatanna screaming "ekat ti ffo, ybab!" at a male stripper. it's worth picking, in my opinion.

That is terrible! We just got done in Countdown hearing Zatanna lecture Mary Marvel about the responsibilities of magic and calling her an ungrateful brat, but it's ok for her to use her gift to see a male strippers' dick? Countdown is so bad it's killing everything it touches. It's even ****ing up Sinestro Corps, and there is better storytelling in one panel of GL than there is in a whole issue of Countdown. Jason Todd and Bob the Monitor? Seriously?

lighten up dude, it was just for comedic effect. and it worked, as far as i'm concerned.

i knew that wasn't the real ollie.

ga/bc #1 was pretty good. chiang's art was awesome. great to see cameos from batman and dr. mid-nite. can't wait to see how this story turns out.

Winick is writing it, it's going to turn out crappily.

eh, i'll give it a chance. he's done some decent work in the past. at the very least, chiang's art will keep me interested.

I wish Chiang would draw something worthwhile. Like a Connor Hawke series.

A small one, thankfully. Winick couldn't write a good Connor Hawke to save his life.

Was enjoyable seeing Mid-Nite and Bruce in the Batcave. I liked those panels a lot.

I'm glad that "everyman" is finally dead,... that guy was on my last nerve.

You had to wonder what of Ollie he ate to imitate him.

It's not really that hard to eat a part of Green Arrow. Just ask half the superheroine population of the DC universe.

I just saw Year One # 6.

Are they now saying that he never wore this classic costume??

The image at the end was a leap to now (though the now before the events of the new GA/BC series) - not his first appearance as GA
