Havent seen many "Official" threads on the DC board here, so thought I'd start one for my favourite emerald archer (man thats a lame tagline). I don;t read DC comics as a rule, but something about the GA character caught my eye and now I'm scrounging up trades, and buying the last few issues before it ends.

Which is one of my points/questions: Is it really ending as a series? If so, why? And apart from the "Year One" coming up, what're they doing with the character? He doesnt have a JLA spot anymore does he, as Roy is the new Archer for the league.

Also, how does Ollie fair in the "Best martial artists in DC" nowadays? I was lead to believe that Connor was right up there with Bats and Shiva and Cass Cain. But then Ollie had the best of the best of tonnes of disciplines, plus Deathstroke's former mentor/teacher come an teach him a shedload of new stuff for a year - so is GA a high ranking fighter now then?

Yes they are really ending the series.. and why? to come back with a Green Arrow/Black Canary series!
Everyone who thinks it Winicks fault ate just too lazy to read the sales chart :P Ollie is kicking most DC books (including BOP and Robin)

Ollie might be near the Top 10.. but i garantee you he is not on the top 10 like his son and his future wife

ollie rocks the pants of any blond! WOOO!

Kebab, seriously, shut the **** up.

Darthphere, seriously, shut the ***** up you ****** ****

We'll find out when we see how he does against Drakon and Deathstroke next issue.

i have a minor feeling that winick is finaly gonna give fans what they want to see..
that Connor and Black Canary deals with them .. and ollie just stands there making jokes..

yeaaah and speedy makes a dirty joke .. yeeaaah!

Darthphere: your no ninja and your getting no my nerves.. now ****

Green Arrow, been buying it for two years and have several trades  Can't quit the title now, and probably won't anytime soon :o

Honestly, I've LOVED the GA since the OYL jump. Winick's choice of storyarcs have been better than ever (and honestly, I was really hating the title right before the OYL jump...I even dropped it), and the art is simply fantastic. And perfectly fitting for GA. I really think this is the best the title's been since Meltzer left, and am really sad to see it go.

I can guarantee you June's issue of GA will be your last. :o

Darthphere and Kebab are kinda bringing this down - saw 11 replies and thought there'd be a lot more GA chat, but half is those idiots... nevermind eh.

So is it actually being revived as GA/BC? Is that to raise her profile as his title's been doing better than they thought, or his profile cos she's now the JLA chairwoman (that is right isnt it - like I said, not a DC guy. Just been reading some wikis to get an idea about current events to see where GA stands with the DCU outside Star City)

I guess.

If you like GA, you should check out Manhunter. That book rocks.

Well I could've called you a dumbass for making an official thread for a book that only has one issue left, but I refrained from doing so, I see my mistake now.:o

all through the early winnick stuff, GA was amazing....then the quality dropped shortly after hester left....but its been better lately, still not great though. but when that book is hitting, its one of my favorite titles.

I made the thread really to get people talking about a character that seems to be really popular, but is being cancelled. Reminiscing a bit - plus if they are relaunching the two of em as one new book, then we talk about that. Anyone seen any articles on it? Or the future of GA in general?

Read the latest Wizard magazine.. 3-4 pages of Green Arrow and Black Canary..
but its still not official..

i forgot to post about this when the issue came out, but #74 was hyped as the big reveal of ollie as green arrow to the entire city. after reading the issue, twice, i saw nothing of the sort. it should be a fun throw-down between the arrow family, deathstroke and drakon.

yeah .. so far the only thing anywhere near that is that he funded the outsiders.. and that was in #73..

yep. the cover and the content didn't matchup at all. i bet winnick changed the story after the cover art and synopsis were posted.

I Like GA again.

Seriously,.. I had some serious dislike for the character when he was in full Man-****e mode,.... but now I appreciate the way they have written him since.

latly the covers and the content have been really REALLY off..

like Speedy and Red hood.. on the cover they where fighting high above Star city.. but noo they where fighting in her highschool gym :P

i wonder.. is the cover for #75 correct? :P

at least that issue contained a fight between speedy and red hood. there was absolutely nothing about exposing ollie as green arrow in the entire issue for #74. i'm pretty sure ollie will still propose to dinah in #75, so that cover's probably accurate. i wonder if the editorial team had a last-minute change of heart about revealing ollie's identity?

I really liked the character for the kind of superhero he was - the little guy's hero with nothing more than a bow and an attitude. Dr Light was spot on when he said why the villains wanted Ollie taken down. But I hated Ollie himself really, just for the ass that he was with women. He wasnt a carefree rich kid trying to do good anymore, he was a closed off womaniser who threw himself into situations and detested any help.

Now however, since his return, he's a better hero and a better man. I always loved the archery aspect, but thought "what does he do when the target is right in his face? Whack em with his bow?". But now he's highly trained, multi talented, and no longer tech wary. If only they'd done this before his last 15 issues...
