just downloaded it and it broke my xbox...no xbox for 3 weeks

and the ***** on the phone at customer service tried to claim it was unrelatedto the update

It's very possible it had nothing to do with the update. Sometimes just the extra strain of having to install anything will cause an older xbox that's teetering on the brink to brick. That's why you get people who's consoles brick on them when just installing game patches and what not. It's not that NXE broke your system, it's that your system was about to break and any update probably would have done it.

My account just went silver.

I'm not sure if it's b/c of the nxe update or what....but doesn't Microsoft usually send you a heads up one month before it's about to go silver?

They sent me nothing the last time it happened. All of the sudden I was Silver and I had to go on to Xbox.com and renew my subscription because my console has a child safety setting (which I never put in place) that blocks me from doing so.

the guy said that to me too but when i spoke to his supervisor and gave him the error code he said "oh thats a new error code thats just come in to use" presumably with nxe, they then backtracked pretty fast and are gonna send me 2 plug and play kits when they return my xbox from repairs...... now i just gotta last 3 weeks with out pro evo and fallout 3 :S..... also my xbox shouldnt have been on the edge as it was repaired about a year ago. the supervisor was nice and helpful the 1st guy was an arse who i could barely understand

Which error code was it just for reference sake?

It sounds like the update didn't take for whatever reason. It's theoretically possible to fix, if you can reflash things and downgrade to an earlier version of the system software, but since most people don't have that stuff, chances are they want it sent in where they have said tools.

You could try the following:

(To Clear Any Failed system updates that cause the console to error.)

1. With the console off, press and hold the sync up button (the
small white one)
2. While holding the sync button press the power button to turn on
the console
3. Continue to hold the sync button until the Console has booted up
completely.
4. During the boot process the console should clear any failed
updates, allowing you to use it normally.

And if you get it to that point, clear the cache:
(it'll get rid of installed game updates, but theoretically reset things back to a point where you can try again)

1. Go to the "system" blade
2. Select "memory"
3. Press Y on the HD symbol
4. Press X,X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X
5. A message will appear saying: "Do you want to perform maintenance
on your Xbox 360 storage devices?"
6. Select Yes

I'm on my second and I only bought the 360 in February or March or something. Soul Calibur 4 did it in, if anyone cares. It kept freezing without even giving me the courtesy of a RRoD. It was overheating.

I think you just re-download the full one. The only repercussion was that you couldn't use Live until the update came out.

I just downloaded it. I like to so far. It's got some bugs though. I can't access the Netflix portion nor can I access Avatar games. Hopefully that all resolves itself

Some of the netflix instant movies don't work with the Xbox. About 5 of the movies from my Queue don't work with it, the rest do. On the Netflix queue it gives a note that says which one's aren't available on the xbox. I don't officially know why, I guess a licensing thing.

Hmm, that's weird. I would think that if you could watch any movies, you'd be able to watch all of them. Maybe they need to adapt each movie individually like the backwards compatability for Xbox games.

I don't think so. Even when you activated it on Netflix.com it says not all movies may be available.

It's either a licensing thing, or some kind of problem that will be fixed... I blame Sony either way. Who knows.
