Vincent might be voicing his support, but he's not in charge of casting. And he might not be thinking of all the considerations that Marvel are. He might be just looking at Wolff's acting ability, but not whether he looks young enough, or whether he's able to do humour etc. Wolff definitely looks older than O'Brien.

garfield was a few years older than some of the other actors he competed with to get the spider role. the difference? he had the best and most convincing audition to the director.

that is the key thing here. and i'm not even saying whether this nat guy is a better or worse actor than o'brien. he may very well be better, but o'brien would STILL do the best job in the peter parker role.

just like how anne hathaway and tom hardy and idris elba are all phenomenal actors, but imo there could have been better ones to do their respective superhero roles.

I have to say that Chalamet looks almost Gecko-like and somewhat sleazy and too slick, especially with that hairstyle and that somewhat haughty, smug look he often has. There's always something about him that is not quite relatable, as if he's always got an edge that makes him a bit distant and less accessible and likeable. I will say that even if Asa Butterfield is lacking in humour, at least he seems more approachable and likeable. Neither are an ideal choice though.
