The Dark Knight The Non-Spoiler Critic Review Thread

We've gotten the reviews we've been waiting for as far as I know so now we just have to wait a few more days!

are there spoilers in either of the AICN reviews. I want to read those, but I know those guys (especially Harry) have a habit of spoiling every plot point.

Quint and Massawyrm's reviews are pretty spoiler-free. They discuss the overall plot a bit, but it's stuff you should already be aware of if you've been reading anything about the film.

Mori's review has some plot-related spoilers in it, but he says so at the beginning.

Actually, I would skip the paragraph which begins:

Massawyrm said:
The Dark Knight is the perfect antithesis of Iron Man. For all its pathos, its dark angles and its deep character studies, Iron Man was an explosive series of action sequences and laughs that ramped you up and prepared you for a knock down drag out at the end....

There's a sentence that casually tosses off (a) plot point(s) I would've preferred not to have suggested. It's not explicit and may only be referring to something we've already seen in the trailers, but it suggests something more.

Great, great review from Massawyrm on AICN. Here's just a small quote: "This is the one we will look back upon 20 years from now and hold it to be superior to most everything that came after it. I want to say that this is like Wrath of Khan or Superman 2, but really this is better than that. This is The Empire Strikes Back of superhero films."

This review is AMAZING. "The greatest Batman story ever told", really? :wow:

These critics are making my city look STUPID! Why is it only the New York critics doggin' it!

Visually impressive, but any hack can do a halfway decent job with trailer-ready tangents. Not everyone can push the genre forward, and the fact that Nolan's padded popcorn flick isn't the streamlined masterpiece it could have been is a real buzzkill.

Because New York critics are "hacks" and stupid themselves. Not New York, just their stupid critics. Must be their source of water, I think New York critics all drink out of the toilet.

Can anyone name a good New York critic?

Yeah, our critics are lame these days. The only one I could actually tolerate was Jack Matthews from the Daily News, and he retired recently.

And if the critics are actually mad about them filming in chicago, then that is just insane. It's Gotham City (who cares if it's a nickname for NYC) not New York City. Wanna get mad? Get mad at a film being set in actually NYC and then being shot in Canada. Even then, who cares.

Heh...it's like there was a memo sent to all the NY critics to pan the movie...I do think they're entitled to their opinions, and are probably making valid points. (It's a little nuts that they're getting flak from people who haven't seen it yet. I will wait to mock relentlessly for another 9 hours or so :) )With all the crazy-good press I was starting to believe Chris Nolan had used the film budget to find blackmail material for the entire pre-release/theater critic population...

But this does beg the question, are there any non-NY negative reviews?
