He could definitely pull it off.

Never been a big fan of Bale. Back in the day I would have loved someone like Michael Wincott.

of those chooses I'd probably go with, Ethan Hawke

1. Bryan Cranston

Every one of those actors would do a good job as Norman Osborn. It depends how they handle Green Goblin.

I rather have 40-50 age range actor because he can hang around as Norman Osborn in couple of movies before Green Goblin.

Bale is sneeking up on me. Top 3 are Hall, Bale and Mcougnhey.

Same

and pretty cool idea again with Copley. As much as I love him idk if he'd be one of my top choices, but a pretty great suggestion nonetheless

Damian Lewis would be brilliant. One of the most intense actors that I've ever seen.

Oh wow, I'd never even thought of Schreiber. He'd be awesome.

He'd nail Gobby for sure. In fact, now I really wanna see that

Copley's now one of my top picks, luckily I have a lot so hey. :awesome:

I do like Copley, too, but I feel he could make a better Carnage. Although, I want Jackie Earle-Haley or Robert Knepper for Cletus Kassidy, but if Sharlto got to be any villain in the MCU, whether Norman Osborn or whoever, I'd be happy.

As for Woody Harrelson as someone brought him up on the first page of this thread, I want him to be "The Spectacular Spider-Man"-version of Shocker or he could play Montana of the Enforcers.

latest

But he DEFINITELY could give us an ape-**** crazy Green Goblin too.

I'd love to see Harrelson as Shocker or some other similar-type villain. He's great

As for Bale not being able to pull off Gobby, I think he 100% could, and with flying colors. I think I read how he originally always wanted to play the Joker, so here's another similar character and another chance. Plus, even when he's playing a normal (business) man, i.e. Norman, he can be incredibly intimidating and intense. I think he'd be so great in the role

And of course MM's a beast at whatever he does and would be phenomenal, and I've loved MCH for the part (he was my first choice a while back). And Isaacs of course looks the part to a T

The only actor I wouldn't like seeing get the role is MM 'cause I've just never cared for his acting in the same way I've never cared for Brad Pitt. All the others would be good for me, though. :oldrazz:

I mostly just want longevity and I think all the actors considered in this thread thus far can give us Norman for at least two films before being Gobby in the next film while some could be Norman for a long time and get a lot out of him if they want to give the Goblin side of things a break.

Put it this way:

  • Spider-Man debuted and used Norman Osborn while also having him serve as the antagonist (Green Goblin) before he was killed off. The next two sequels had him as hallucinations and nothing more. He was played by Willem Dafoe, then (46-47 for SM)
  • The Amazing Spider-Man established him as dying without being seen/revealed, which many felt was the wrong move and was solely done for the sake of being different to the previous films. The sequel finally introduced him in the new world but killed him off bed-ridden and hired a Chris Cooper (then 61-62) to portray him, which was a dumb decision as having a mid 60 year old play The Green Goblin is just crazy.
  • MCU has been known for casting actors in roles with the idea of longevity in mind, meaning the actors and the characters majority of the time go side-by-side as opposed to actors outgrowing the role. You wouldn't cast Burt Reynolds as Tony Stark for example, even going as far back as 2007-2008.

With all of that in mind, I really hope they look at actors from late 30s (JG to Schreiber) to late 40s (MM to Bardem) if they want to maintain longevity for Norman. If the plan is to do a trilogy with Green Goblin as the finale villain, they could easily get away with looking into the 50s for that.

Keep in mind, everything I've stated can be considered moot if the MCU just continues to do its own thing and change their rules on the fly. If they can get away with CGIing Michael Douglas, whose to say they couldn't do that for someone like Cranston for Norman? :funny:

Ah well, I'd like to know your thoughts, guys. :yay:

But seriously consider Jake 'cause I need Jake in the MCU and they already have 2/3 of the main cast from friggin' Zodiac so pls just get Jake, kthx:hmr:

McConaughey would absolutely knock both Norman and Gobbie out of the park. I could also see Schreiber in the role too.

I'd be fine with Schreiber playing Osborn, but I'd much rather him reprise his role as Sabretooth in Wolverine 3.

Well, the Trades just confirmed him as the Vulture, so yeah...
