Around nine minutes ago, I came up with this idea completely by accident during a conversation within the DC redesign thread. Reading it over, I thought I might actually have something that could be genuine fun for all of us, so I decided to start the nostalgia thread for real with hopes that it might take off.

This space is an artistic haven for those who wish to swim in their childhood memories, and create something new with them, a combination of old and new ideas that (hopefully) will span outward into fun discussion and great art. The only rules, besides the normal SHH regulations and censorship rules, are that your art be related to cartoons, movies, comic strips, etc etc. any characters you loved as a kid that may be considered crazy, cheesy, or even outright crappy can be presented here, as long as YOU, the artist, put your own artistic flare on the character. The redesigns here do not have to be hero specific, weather you wish to take on the Animaniacs (a personal favorite of mine) or Speed Racer, as long as it made you smile as a kid (or as a kid in a grownups body) it’s fine to post here.

And yeah, i know the basic unwritten rule of posting art of your own in a thread created by yourself, but i currently have none, and i really wanted to put this up before i forgot entirely or decided to change my mind, but sure enough, i will be contributing here.

With that said, have fun, get creative, and we all cant wait to see what you have in store for us

Here are a couple I've had for a little while now. First is Captain N, an old cartoon from the late 80s or early 90s. The second one is a redesign of Captain Caveman, I tried to make him look more like a caveman and less like Cousin It from the Addams Family.

Oh, and one more. It's not so much a cartoon, but it fits in with the whole nostalgia thing. Scarier version of a flying monkey from Wizard of Oz...hey I'm from Kansas, what'd you expect?

love it man, and the wizard of oz thing is fine, the pieces can be related to any medium you enjoyed as a kid

Coolness. Great pencils on the evil flying monkey. :)

This was for the contest a few months ago. It's the Star Wars: A New Hope poster redone with cartoon characters from various shows that I love(d).

I've always been a HUGE fan of the many incarnations of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Radio Show, Book, TV Show, Comic Books, Movie). This is a drawing I did of Zaphod Beeblebrox and Ford Prefect.

I see the old school NES gun!

I wish we could just combine all three redesign threads and just have "The Redesign Thread." It would make it alot easier to keep on the first page, as of now the DC and Marvel ones are always in need of a bump.

sweet idea and pics so far can't wait to see where this goes:up:

haha bump with an announcement, my "Power ranger" redesign will be up shortly

Anybody notice the guy in the middle's belt buckle, very cool.

Haha, I hope the fat Anna Nicole Smith Smurfette is in that movie (for those of you who've seen the fat Smurfette thing from SNL on youtube)

But not his idea, to be fair. The original Cap N had a NES controller on his belt as well, and could use the 'Start' button to pause his surroundings.

Nice pencils, RobJHawk. I especially like Pitt (although I think in the show they only called him Kid Icarus, which was the name of his game); he looks very otherworldly.

But what -- no Game Boy??

Once I get a new scanner, I'm gonna have ta' bring some Dark Water to this thread. Now, that's a cartoon that deserves a second chance.

-- END!

That's right, CM, I have to admit the NES controller was his belt buckle in the cartoon. I'm just surprised that somebody else actually remembers the show. I think he could use the buttons to jump higher and do some other things too, couldn't he? It's been too long I can't really remember. I'm pretty sure they only called him Kid Icarus on the show.

No, no Game Boy. I couldn't figure out a way to try and make him look cool.

Glad you liked it, and I'm looking forward to the Dark Water stuff.

little sketch i did of my favorite cartoon when i was 5
